Shiva Ki

Hey Leatherbird, any word yet on your knife? I really want to know what you think!
Let us know.

James

Hey guys,James,thanks for interest.SHIVA KI dislocated shoulder 2 days ago.Blade done,handle/guard needs fitted,filework kind of slow.Expect Wednesday.Will Email him today.leatherbird

Haven't been online for a while, received Shiva Ki Small Spirit, cocobolo handle. Can't do camera thing but have a friend who does so will post pix as soon as possible. It is now the pride and joy of my collection. The knife and sheath are beautiful. It's scary sharp and.....I'll shut up.It's approximately 14 and a half inches overall length and has an extremely striking temper line.

Congratulations Leatherbird! Shiva is a controversial guy around here but I think he makes the best fighters around. Hope ya don't mind me posting a pic of my own Spirit blade--it's an 11" blade made from a combo of his "Samurai steel" AND it's clay-tempered like his other line. It's my own favorite too. Looking forward to seeing a picture of yours! Jim USMC

I knew you'd like it. Shiva sent me a couple of pictures that he took of your knife when he sent back my handle that I'd asked him to make a bit smaller. I didn't know, at first, that you'd ordered a Small Spirit, hence all of the info about the silk wrap, etc., in my earlier post. It's a great knife though, huh? Lots of character!

Jim,Love your knife and agree with ya' about SK making the best fighters.I had originally wanted a curly maple handle and even after making and fitting the handle for the blade,he changed it and made me the cocobola,in the meantime he dislocated his shoulder helping a friend so filework was kind of slow with arm in sling. My knife was a day or two late so he recompensed me buy wrapping sheath in black stingray. All in all a great guy if you ask me.Am acquiring a "merc" off him next.Gentlemen,I think I have found my custom knifemaker. Leatherbird.

To stay out of trouble, which I seem to be prone to,no disrespect meant to ANY other Custom Knifemakers. leatherbird.

A stingray-wrap sounds MIGHTY cool to me! Looking forward to the pics for sure. I don't think any other knifemakers can get angry with you for liking someone's knives. If they do, well then it's THEIR problem!! Shiva has a bad rep. with some folks on here and I don't pretend to know what happened and I DO know it's none of my business. That said, I do know that Shiva asked me to help him track-down another bladesmith whom he owed money for a power hammer. I did and it turned out to be none other than Mr. Ed Caffrey--Master Smith par exellence! Shiva told me he had lost the address and Mr. Caffrey DID tell me that Shiva squared things up with him. (Just got a Caffrey knife by the way, which I truly love) Anyway, Shiva has always been honest with me and I know he tracked-down someone who he owed money to, so he's good-to-go in my book. You're gonna love your Merc too by the way--here's a pic of mine. Share the photos when you can and watch those edges--they ARE downright SCARY sharp! :D Jim SEMPER FI

Will post pix as soon as my camera friend gets unbusy.Jim,WOW, a merc too.And it's one of the stouter looking of his mercs that I've seen. What are the handle scales made of?

Hey Leatherbird, the scales on the Merc are water buffalo horn. I have never seen a Merc with scales of a different material although I'm sure Shiva can make them out of whatever you want. It's a 7.5 inch blade--I sold my 9" bladed one a while back and wish I hadn't! :( Cheers--Jim USMC

Bad news is might not be able to post pix for 7-9 days as picture takin' buddy is on vacation heading Southwest.Unless I get something else goin'. Anywho,James,SK told me I could get the scales in presentation grade Arizona Ironwood or carved Impala bone also.Sorry about pix post issue hope to resolve soon.Yeah, the black stingray wrap on the sheath is absolutely beautiful, seamless. leatherbird.

Sorry Thomas, I thought that flag you're flying also stood for FREE SPEECH. Some of us actually LIKE Shiva's knives. I can understand people not liking the MAKER but--only if it's OK with you--I'll choose to like his knives. Don't think Leatherbird, Me, or anyone else has asked anybody to BUY his knives. THAT would be an advertisment.

Everybody's entitled to thier own opinion.I don't think I have to remind anyone about the "Opinions are Like A-Holes" everyone has one So on & So forth,Do I? I've owned more than a couple of Shiva's Merc's & in my opinion it's as is good a fighter as any out there. That's not to say I'm Only going to buy Merc's when I buy fighters, because I won't limit myself like that. Why don't we all just agree to dis-agree and let it go at that. This Mole Hill's been turned into a Mountain.

Thomas Linton, you misguided soul,if you would have looked at my next post that I had posted in the wrong forum. As this thread only has 79 posts,I think. And as far as making this an advertisement for SHIVA KI's knives I won't even comment on that as that was never my intent, you know SHIVA do you?Enough to call him a jerk? You obviously don't own one do you?Don't bother posting why you wouldn't own a SHIVA,he might not sell you one. This is getting ugly, stop it.Oh,yeah.My wrong post was for the GAY RIGHTS forum, check out my posts.
