Shivaki Custom Knives

I can't say whether or not his claims are true because I don't know anything about him or his knives but steel could only be pushed to a certain limit and IMO the mastersmiths he is refering to (whoever they may be) have done just that, pushed the steel to it's farthest extreme as far as performance and cutting ability. As far as his claim to be better, where is the proof?

this is from http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=331130&page=5&pp=20

I just reread an article on shiva ki in blades international online mag.
In that article it has the same picture of the severed oak limb, but
states that it took four swings to go through it.

take it with a grain of salt.

now if this is true I'd like to know why the two story's?
and
My blades are outcutting the top Master smiths,3 to 1. No one can
come close to my blades.

if true I'd like some names please.

I take pride in being up front and straight with my customers. omho :)

Hey Master Ki,
I'm very interested in one of your spirit blades. Do you currently have a wait list or anything like that? Are deposits required for orders? Please let me know!
Got some on hand. shiva

I'm having trouble finding evidence online to back up ANY of these claims. Don't see you nowhere in the Martial Arts Hall of Fame. No record in the Toughman either. 'Course, I'm using google. Can you provide the links?

Yogi mystic... warrior spirits... spirit +5... I'm not touching that. If a man wants to claim he has an army of lawn gnomes help him forge his knives, that's non of my business.

Is it true that your knives are made out of 1095 steel?

yes, 1095 clay tempered, sorry - got no gnomes. I think that was the shoemaker

Just for kicks, I did a search of "Martial arts hall of fame". There are a ton of different ones. Which one is recognized as legit?. Looks like everybody and their brother has a hall.

yeh, even those baseball and football players, go figure

Is any hall of fame legit? Even Cooperstown is questionable with the politics of who they pick and exclude.

There you go, maybe you should drop by and see if I`m legit.

Haven`t knocked any body out since the National Toughman two years ago

I've heard that he makes impressive knives, but the fact I am focusing on is his statement, which to me, was a spit in the face of master bladesmiths. I can claim that I can nail a 10" spike through a cinder block with my anatomy, but that doesn't mean anything without PROOF. To me, the knives aren't under questioning, but the statements given.

If you're gonna claim to be the biggest/baddest/etc... I say, PUT UP OR SHUT UP...

My $0.02

My sentiments exactly, put up or shut up. Can you cut 16 one inch rope bundle? Every spirit blade I make can cut 10. Can you make ONE blade that
can touch that? I spit in no ones face. I even wrote to John Fitch a letter
of apology. It`s airheads like you who force me to speak lesser of other
makers by challanging what most would consider impossible. I have in fact, done the impossible. Must I apologize, because I`ve quantum leaped into alien territory, far above the current best? This does not belittle them, it
just gives a benchmark, that makes a measure between the norm and the
quantum leap I`ve made in the world of knives blatantly expressed. shiva

Coug, I think what he is saying is that his knives will cut through three times as many ropes than the knives being made by the ABS Mastersmiths. This is of course an extreme exaggeration. His Spirit Blade cut through 15 ropes. That is an awesome feat, but most, if not all ABS smiths can make knives that will cut through more than 5. Along with martial arts, Master Ki seems to also be a master of hype. He makes excellent knives, but he does seem to lack respect for other makers. Maybe it is just how he comes across.

I just tell it like it is, you don`t have to like it. shiva And that was 16
ropes, 11 times, ran out of rope. Thats 600.00 dollars worth of rope.
Have MANY photo`s AND video, to back up my claims. So there.

I'll be the first to admit that some of us have had a little fun at your expense in the last couple days, but no real disrespect is meant. You have to understand that this is the internet and we have people showing up everyday blowing smoke and making big claims.
I've looked at your site and I'm impressed with your work, but your postings have left a lot of people wondering.
What I'm getting at is that as a knifemaker myself I understand that its a mix of art and science. And from that standpoint we would like to know more about what your doing and what leads you to make these claims of performance.
I can tell from what I've seen that your knives really do offer high performance. If all of your claims are true though you really have something special and we would like to know more about it. The knifemakers on this site are a very close community, we take cutting performance seriously and do what can to develop new ideas. We share openly as a group to further the cause and find it hard to swallow when someone claims they have something better but will not share any details as to how or why.
Further, we have more than a handful of guys here who have paid their dues and managed to become ABS mastersmiths, journeyman smiths and so on. They have passed the tests officially. They have gone to hammer ins and knife shows and done the cutting competitions openly showing what their knives are or aren't capable of. They don't go around listing who's knives are worse than theirs or anything like that. They simply say they passed their test and leave it at that. So for you to say that your knives are 3 times better than a mastersmith's, without having been there for the test or the competition to make that hands on comparison, is a little hard for folks here to swallow.
I realize that your just trying to market your work and you mean no disrespect towards anyone, and I hope you don't wind up feeling outed by our group here. Its just that we'd like more information about what you're doing. We've suffered through enough Dark OPS knives ads that we're alot happier to just get honest information without the marketing jingle and ad campaign attached.
So I hope you'll stick around and share your knowledge with the group.

Well said Matt. I too have grown tired of the antics of Dork Ops knives and the likes with what I feel is poor advertising. It strikes a blow against knife enthusiasts who work hard daily attempting to further educate and familiarize the general public with the beauty and value of knives.

When you posted your info regarding a superiority against the leading mastersmiths without verification, I find it difficult to believe much more of what that person says. As for a flesh eating blade, that can be a bit much for me personally.

I will see what comes of this and hopefully I can grasp what you are trying to say.

Edit: I'm sorry, but I still need names and proof of these events. I wouldn't feel right or left without them

Could you please address your statement regarding your knives out performing the top 3 master smiths. Personally, I would have a pic of me standing with the 3 guys with the worlds largest grin

Yes, 1095, clay tempered. And that was the shoemaker with the gnomes.
Bummer, I could sure use the help, but alas, I have to do it all myself.
