Shop addition!! The new mill is here!

Sweet, Jon.

Without actually have done any real milling myself, but after spending some time in machine shops, all I can say is, "slow is pro." Light passes will save your bits, make cleaner work and be safer. I bet you know more than me about it, I just thought I would throw it out there.

Congratulations again on the new set up.

Very cool buddy!!! :)

But.... um.... Where is Ray Liotta?!?!?   :D

I'm excited for 'ya! I think you made a very smart move by stepping up to this machine. Next thing you know, you'll have some 15,000# Cincinnati mill from an old Navy ship sitting in your shop! ;) :D

Plus 1 or 7 on the tooling comments. In most shops the bill for the tooling is several times over what the initial machine investment was.

I agree with Erik for the most part, but be careful as light cuts on some materials (talking both cutter and workpiece) will just rub the tool to a premature death.

I like the clean and bright shop!!!

That is a nice looking machine jonny! I'm sure it will serve you well. I'm looking forward to pictures of the sharp things you make with it.:D

Nice mill, but I noticed the refridge under the counter. That's my next purchase!

LOL, fridge, washer, dryer, clothes, pots, pans, lawnmower. My shop is the garage so a certain amount of space is reserved for normal garage type stuff. At least my wife has resigned herself to the fact that she will never park a car in there again:D

Come to think of it though, even if my shop was a dedicated building with no other stuff in there.......I'd still have a fridge!;)

Gotta have a fridge in the shop....Hey, shop tour with whats in your fridge?:D

Awesome. lol. It reminded me of something; when I was a kid, my mom made salmon patties all of the time. They were great. As an adult, I learned that back then we couldn't afford 100% salmon - most of it was mackerel.
