Shop DOGS!!!

Some fine looking Shop Dogs you guys have there.

This was my buddy for 6 years, Bear aka Birch Beer. This is pretty much how spent 22 hours a day. Greyhounds define the term retired.
At the age of 13 and the body just worn out from 5 years of racing, I had to put him down in late October. He is truly missed around here.

At the risk of being lynched...

Here's a pic of our shop CAT :)

And this is a dog I sculpted out of some clay we pulled out of a hole we were drilling.

Here are a couple pics of my big kids. These are American Bulldogs from Ball Mountain Kennels.

Not really shop dogs since they would probably get into everything (and I have yet to find respirators or safety glasses for dogs...), but these are our kids. We just got them back from some intensive in-patient obedience training and they're changed dogs. We've still got some work to do, but they're being downright fantastic compared to what they were a month ago. Judge is the big boy on the left and Justice is our "little girl"....Not so little at 70lbs, but compared to his 120lbs of bulk, she's the small one ;)

This is Jasper our 6mo old Australian Shepherd

Nice Aussie! He is getting close to the dreaded "aussie insanity" age. Mine was a complete manic nutcase from about 6mo to 1.5 years, after which his personality changed into a much more "adult" dog.

Ive had dogs all my life and have never seen dogs display "teenage" behavior like aussies...mine used to run himself nearly to death in large widening circles trying to work off his excess energy.

Here he was as a little bundle of fluff:

Wonder if that's true of all Aussie dogs. My Red Heeler (Newt) does the same thing, he just turned 6 months old. Smart dogs but they act stupid for about 6 months, kinda like a teenager like you said.

I think most breeds just don't "Need" to work. These dogs truely have been bred from day one only for working traits while many other breeds were bred for aesthetics. All the weaker and less active ones were bred out, leaving only the most high strung ones capable of 14 hour working days. Take those genes and throw them into a small apartment and its a recipe for disaster and sad for the dog.

Some of my fondest and most dreaded times were during that period with my Aussie. He'd go from the most entertaining goofball to the most hell-bent-insane creature i've ever seen and back again in a single afternoon. One time he (35lbs) dragged a 60# log around my back yard in circles for two hours just for kicks.

Yep that sounds like mine, he carries around a teddy bear plays and sleeps with it but, show him another stuffed animal and he is gonna find out what is inside of it. I have plenty of room for him to play, hell he goes out with Woody and brings up the horses when its feeding time. Just a happy dog.

this is all making me very jealous and depressed..........:grumpy::mad::(:(

great looking dogs guys,

andrew

Heres Mugsy,He cant stand it when I leave him in the house and I'm In the garage. So I let him out, Then He cant stand being out here w/ me when he sees I'm busy and cant pay attention to him. So he stares at the door until I let him back in.:D

Here's my shop dog. Ginger even made last months Blade. Great dog and loves her tennis ball. She has not gotten that much play time in due to weather. I may just take her out and let her get dirty. I will just have to give her another bath.

Man, this is an awesome thread!

69... I've got a shop cat too :)

David, your dog is quite the looker. My friend has one that has that "hard to believe level of cuteness" like your pup has in that pic, and he likes to refer to him as "the pantie dropper." LMAO... not much need to explain that one ;)

Thanks for sharing guys, this is really cool. It's kind of fascinating there is such a strong prevalence of Boxers and Aussies!

oh, crap. last pic of Victoria I have is 11 weeks. She's 4.5 months now. Guess I'll be updating that tomorrow.
