I like a carving theme - maybe we get a bunch of basswood blocks and then each person carves something while we sit around and shoot the breeze - then at the end we check out everyone's carvings.

Just a thought -

I think the hiking staff carving contest at the Waterloo gathering was a fun one - maybe others would enjoy something like that

I'll be at the Chicagoland Fishing & Travel Show in Schaumburg, my busiest day of the year. Will miss you guys, have a beer for me.
 
Car and hotel booked. How difficult is it to drive from Chicargo to your place, john. Trying to figure out about when I'll get there.

I would say around 45ish minutes from downtown depending on traffic. Shouldn't be too bad at that time.
