I like a carving theme - maybe we get a bunch of basswood blocks and then each person carves something while we sit around and shoot the breeze - then at the end we check out everyone's carvings.

Just a thought -

I think the hiking staff carving contest at the Waterloo gathering was a fun one - maybe others would enjoy something like that

I'll be at the Chicagoland Fishing & Travel Show in Schaumburg, my busiest day of the year. Will miss you guys, have a beer for me.
 
Car and hotel booked. How difficult is it to drive from Chicargo to your place, john. Trying to figure out about when I'll get there.
 
Sounds like y'all will have fun. I guess a lot of y'all are up around Illinois, any of the people hanging out in this forum down south around Texas?
 
I would say around 45ish minutes from downtown depending on traffic. Shouldn't be too bad at that time.
 
Yep - 40-50 minutes from the loop depending on traffic.
