SHOT Show Highlights

Maybe I'm getting older, but none of the new stuff from ZT, or from Kershaw is doing anything for me. To be fair, I've never considered ZT in the past because they're WAY out of my price range. But it seems to me I don't look at the new ones and think "man, I wish I could justify owning that" like some of the previous years. Kershaw is somewhat the same way. Did they release any folders that aren't assisted opening? That, and most of the new models don't do anything for me either :/.

And is it just me, or are most of their new models tip up only? I see only like one or two that look like they're drilled for all orientations/directions of carry.

ZT seems to be catching on that Speedsafe is unnecessary, I wish kershaw could do the same.

Looks like Leatherman is introducing the Skeletool RX that features a serrated sheepsfoot blade and a special bit with a carbide glass breaker.

Just watched a video released today on 2 new Hinderer folder designs. Also some info on more stuff coming up later this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtI_0nG1Q-k

Glad to see Rick add more to the line up. The Sherman seems to have sort of a "Dauntless" look to it. I wonder if a there will be collaboration in the future. (Apologies if he mentions anything in the video, I just sorta skimmed it quickly).

Condor's new lineup is available here: http://www.condortk.com/products-new.php

Immediately noticeable for me are the tomahawks(Condor is finally putting out some traditional style hawks), the Primitive Bush Machete which is like the big brother of last year's Primitive Bush Knife, an Eco Survivor version of their Golok Machete, and a Gladius, which, assuming it's not radically more expensive than their other swords, will finally allow me to get a Gladius sword without paying a ton. They're also apparently changing the Swamp Master and Viking machetes from their 420HC to 1075 now...

Well one of them does have a wave and the other one is an automatic so I'm not sure which one your referring to.

I was going to say that the CQC-9K doesn't have the wave, but....

The CQC-9K was what I was referring too.. Guess it does have the wave....

I thought the same thing at first. I actually quite like that it's concealed when open, though. I've said it elsewhere, and I'll repeat it here, I find the new ZT offerings a bit tepid, but I think KAI killed it in their Kershaw lineup.

Any idea what the street price will be on the new Condor 'Hawks? I like the look... but the MSRP is a bit higher than I was anticipating, at least in comparison to the Cold Steel offerings. The upside is that they come with a sheath, and I much prefer condor as a company, but I'm just curious what type of price bracket they'll land in.

One thing I do wish Kershaw would work on (besides their overuse of the Speedsafe mechanism) is their names. A bit nitpicky I know, but still.

I suppose they do it so that each knife has a theme and stands out, but for me they just sort of blend together. Somewhere along the line I bet I'll mix up the Induction and the Injection, for example.

Never heard of 4cr14 wonder what it's equal to

It's probably slightly better than 3cr13 on paper. Probably a negligible difference.
