Should I bother getting a Spyderco Delica?

The Delica is a great blade for what it is. Simple, basic, functional. No unneeded whistles and bells. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of FRN, but it's growing on me. If low weight is a point of interest, FRN is the way to go. I may have carried mine more if it were the stainless or titanium version. But it is good to have a simple knife handy for the things you don't want to attack with your $300 primary blade.

For small secondary blade, the Chaparral finds its way into my pocket the most. Primary usually a ZT or Spyder Domino or PM2.

Every time I carry a Delica for a few days, I wonder why I have knives 5 times the cost. I wouldn't have a problem putting it in the discussion for best EDC knife ever made, all things considered.

I like Spyderco a lot, but the Delica doesn't really do anything for me. It's not bad, but I would much rather carry a Yojimbo 2. You really get a nice balance on maximum knife versus minimum weight, and the fit and finish on mine were quite nice compared my more mundane Delica. The wharncliffe blade is an extremely useful shape, and the position of the handle really lets you get behind the edge or point as required. You've got the ZT 0350 and the Recon 1 so you have enough tanks, the Yojimbo 2 is more like a good sports car that is a pleasure to use.

Yes, everyone, no matter what their collection consists of should own a Delica. I still have my first one that has the molded clip, ClipIt stamped with Delica and Aus8 steel.
It's an Icon that needs to be in every collection.

I'm not a Delica fan. It's a great knife, I recognize that, I have a SB Delica, carry and use it on occasion. Perhaps it's the size, I like a slightly longer than 3" blade. I don't mind back locks, though again, not my preferred choice.
I do agree with Ajack60 though, any folder collection should include a Delica. It's an iconic Spyderco. And it's affordable.

If your prepared to pay the entry price, a nice Benchmade is well worth considering. Apart from the 940 you mention, consider a 943, or for something a bit more substantial, a 950 Rift. They're 2 of my favourite BMs.

What? Have you not heard of a back lock knife? I live in Mississauga! I see you edited your post if you have any other stupid questions PM me instead.

Get a Delica, and get it in ZDP-189. Of all the knives I own, it's technically the best knife for knife things.

I believe the law requires everyone who owns more than five folders to buy a Delica if it is not one of the five.

Is a ZDP Endura an acceptable substitute? I should be picking one up soon.

Technically, no. The good news is that the same law requires anyone who owns more than 20 folders to buy an Endura if it is not one of the 20. I assume you meet the criteria.

Perfect thread for me. I've had an Endura for a couple years, and love it. I have long felt that Spyderco is a superior company, making superior products, owned by a superior man within the knife industry. What I've never been able to get my head around is Spyderco collectors. Someone please tell me what a Delica offers me, that an Endura 4 doesn't???

Extra space in your pocket. Sometimes I prefer the 22 caliber to the 38 caliber. But I love them, and have them, both.

Since you have others, I would choose a Delica with upgraded steel over the standard VG-10. It is a great knife and one of my favorites to carry and just the right size for me.

In response to ichor's question about the Delica vs Endura... I have two Enduras and would choose the Delica over each because they fit MY pocket and needs better. The Endura is just a tad too aggressive for me.

IMO, the FFG Delica 4 is outstanding for probably 99.9% of what most people would need a pocket knife for.
