Should I bother getting a Spyderco Delica?

Yes, the delica is a must buy, it, along with my sebenza helped set my expectations for quality at a given price. My delica ends up in my pocket most days, and makes a great backup for a nicer blade too.

Ah...duh, that didn't occur to me in Idaho. Still...why would anyone need both?

Do you feel it is your place to tell folks what they do or don't need? You're asking knife collectors why they would want to have two different knives in their collection, an odd question.

Delica's on my permanent rotation. Excellent EDC. Great thin slicer with good belly and sharp tip, very light, very thin, great ergos, very good grip, very "nimble" in use, disappears in the pocket, easy open, one handed close with backlock, VG10 is easy to sharpen and offers good permormance, comes in endless variations, cheap enough that you dont baby it.

It's not a hard use extreme hardcore hammer knife though. It's a knife, it's great at what 3 inch utility knives do.

Endura is the better option for self defense and food prep. Out hiking, its a good one blade option.

Endura Delica.....

I have a Glock 17 and a 26. I NEED two cell phone lines and I have a iPhone 6 and a 6 plus. I have the same can of shaving gel, one for home, and one a bring on flights. My wife and I have two Apple Airs and we interchange between the sizes as needed. I have DMT diamond hones and Spyderco Ceramic stones in different sizes, for the home, field, and travel. I had the same looking Maglights for years, one for the shed, one for the car. I have the same Masterlock design, one for my locker, and a bigger one for my shed. AM I doing too much? Hehe.

Similar but can serve different purposes much better... And when something is a great design, you tend to stick with it.

Fwiw, I got a pm2, delica 4 and dragon fly 2 all at the same time, and I got rid of the delica first. And then eventually the PM2, keeping only the dragonfly.

Its a crazy knife. The best description for it is convenient. Thin and flat good amount of lade, really lightweight. It causes you to just slip it into your pocket and forget about it. The blur is a great work knife but it weighs apt compared to the Delica. The mini grip would come in Seco land in terms of easy to put it I to your pocket. I would go for the new upgraded versions though as the noryl scales feel cheap and crude (I've smacked them with a hammer they are bullet proof) But they come off as cheap and it bothers alot of ppl including myself on an otherwise excellent knife.

Best fold clip-knife ever I think. Obviously just my opinion. Easy to keep sharp, stays sharp, carries very flat. Cuts like a laser. I like lock backs because the spring tension keeps them closed. With a Delica, one is not tempted to use it too hard...it's too small to baton with:D.

any knife enthusiast should have a Delica and Endura, they are great, Spyderco was what got me into knives

I haven't read all of the replies so I may be going against the grain but I love Spyderco folders and I have a Delica 4. My only problem with it is I don't care for the lock back design. I much prefer the Tenacious and Persistance with the liner lock, the liner lock allows me to easily open and close one handed.

I'll probably take some flack for this, but I'm going to say it. Let me preface by saying that I am a huge fan of the Delica and I own three of them. The Ontario Rat model II offers almost all of the functionality of the Delica at close to half the price. Comparing the Rat to the FFG Delica, you get a 3" FFG blade, 4-position clip, FRN scales over liner on both knives. The locks are different and some might insist that the lockback is stronger and more reliable than the Rat's liner lock, but I don't agree. The Delica's FRN gives more traction than the Rat's, but I've never had an issue with that. The Rat is actually a much slimmer, more pocketable package when closed. The only real difference, to me, is the blade steel (AUS-8 vs VG-10). Honestly, I'm not a steel junky and haven't noticed much of a difference in performance there.

Max you make a good point! That said the Delica is the ultimate in slim carry to me. But if you add the Delica and Rat II that's well under budget. My third favorite 3 inch budget slim carry is the Kabar Dozier. I wouldn't say any of these are hard use knives, they just make for very compact carry.

Yes get it. I have a bunch of Spydercos and a bunch of knives in general, and the Delica is the one that wears all the gunk and scratches from hard use, if that tells you anything.
