Should I get a 119 or a Nighthawk?

I batoned a 119 on about a one and three quarter inch branch and rolled the edge. I got the edge back but it took some time and I will not boton with it again.

Has anyone else batoned using a 420HC fixed blade
that held up time after time? Also has anyone chopped
with one? Just curious to how 420HC will hold up.

Yes, I have been chopping cedars and oaks for a couple of weeks now. the Nighthawk has performed flawlessly

I still say get both, but it appears that I really, really like the nighthawk all of a sudden... ( I blame you Goose) :D LOL

This one was received in a trade... Too nice to use.

Gooses' 650 nighthawk, with "some" use compared to my new UNSERRATED 655 Short nighthawk!!!!
Goose, the 650 still feels naked without its aftermarket sheath... (Hopefully it arrives soon!)

650 compared to 655. I ALMOST think the 655 may be my favorite of the 2.

Cool pics wh4f. In case you missed it I did get both! (post #69)

How common is the 655 without serrations? I didn't even know that was an option?

Hey... anything for a fellow Buckster still using a telegraph

You've touched a sore nerve...the local telco here still maintains that the phone line is for analog communication only...if you complain about slow load times, or dropped connections, they'll tell you that this is a *phone* company, not a computer portal... :grumpy:

Broadband is still either $$$ or not available...UPS only delivers three days a week...FedEx won't deliver at all unless someone is there to sign for it, and the terminal is a 2 hour drive away...

Only my US Mail girl is dependable...I now specify USPS whenever possible, and I don't do business with any company using FedEx anymore... :grumpy:

What was this thread about???

Sorry to hit a sore spot Trax :o If it makes you feel any better I have the same trouble with UPS and FedEx. Someone tried to overnight FedEx me a document a while back. They refused to believe it wouldn't make it to my door for 2 days

Sorry to hit a sore spot Trax...

The telco did send out a girl to check my trunk line...she told me what to say when I complain now..."I hear dozens of people talking at once"..."I hear crackling static"..."The volume raises and lowers"..."I hear popping noises on the line"...eventually they took all the unused taps off my line and replaced the old lines with new copper lines...my connection speed rose about 200%, but ~4.0kbps for downloads is still the best I can hope for...trees all around, satlinks don't work well...lotsa snow in Winter; satlinks can't see through snow or heavy rain...cable company seems to change every month; half the management is in jail now, the other half owns a losing hockey team... :grumpy:

What was this thread about???

I think this thread was about some dumb pillock who couldn't decide which of two Bucks to buy. He ended up getting the one, then broke it, then bought the other one... and the saga of two Bucks continues.... or something like that :D

Oh, OK...I was thinking this one was about the pic of the 41 year old MD's hindquarters... :D

I better get to bed...short night tonight... :o

Well messy,

You were just following my advice.....Buy them both!!!!:D . If you didn't snap one in half you may still only have one. You just came up with a way to justify buying both for your wife.....sympathy always work on the ladies...LOL

I didn't miss it Messy! I just thought I would try to keep it on topic :D
The 655 unserrated is quite rare, this one was an accident :D
I don't mind though I really like it unserrated!!
I have seen one other 655 without serrations, it also had a SATIN finished blade, no black oxide coating!! That one was really sweet, but I wasnt high bidder :(

I have never gone for the short NightHawks only cause I need to overcome my shortcomings with a larger knife ;)
Actually, I never went for the 655 because of the serrations. If I found one w/o the speed bumps, I'd get it if I could.

As for the video clips. I started to watch the one pounding through the block, then I realized I need coffee.

If someone can summarize the videos for me and those on telegraph line, that would be great.

Jim...
Check the black box on that all black handle, black blade Hawk.
Remember, my silver blade box says oxi-coated blade and I was wondering if our boxes got mixed up at the hospital.

ALSO, speaking of blame...LOL, what comes aroung goes around I guess...thanks to your rave reviews, I'm sitting here looking for a non-speed-bump 655.

Ya know, I had a lot more frickin' coin before I found this place. Yesterday, I was looking at the dented fender on my scoot from when that cage rear ended me...and instead of getting a new one, all I thought about was, "hey, wait...that's how many Buck knives?".

LOL Goose, I have the same problems!!!
Good luck with the non speed bump 655!
A little dent in a fender never hurt anything anyway LOL :D

JIM!!!!
*** never mind about the box Jim...I just read my e-mail***

Doing my best to steer the thread off road...
Goose.
