Should I get a Paramilitary 2?

That I don't know.
No problem. Bentobox seems to be selling them for a higher price than at other places, so I cant justify the extra risk from buying from the USA, as customs can be quite unpredictable. I think I might have to by the standard s30v version from an Australian retailer.

Thanks again for the pics and replies.

$200 is about right from a retailer...I picked one up for a friend when visiting Smokey mountain knife works and it came out to $210 with tax. They're going for around $165 on the auction sight some being buy now.

$200 USD is about $280 AUD and my budget is about $250 AUD. That is not including shipping which would probably be another $40-50 USD.
If I buy from an Australian retailer I can get it for $250 AUD shipped.

Interesting thread! My first serious knife that led me to this forum is a PM2 black G10 with S30V. I have no interest in knife at all but wanted one for use on an as and when basis during my camping trips so my friend introduced the PM2 to me. I did previously own an Endura and always loved the cutting edge from Spyderco so the PM2 sounds like a naturally great upgrade for me. After receiving the PM2 I joined Blade Forums.

Ok, regarding steels, what's the main difference between S30V and S110V other than S110V having a much better edge retention? Will a PM2 with S110V be able to handle light camp craft like making wood spears and feathering? I know a fixed blade is the answer but I am just curious to know.

My pm2 in s110v carves wood just fine.

I just purchased a Paramilitary 2 in s30v with digi-cam and a satin blade :D. It should arrive in a week or two. Thanks for all the help!

I have a PM2. It is the only spiderco I carry, mainly for SD, as I am not fond of spiderco's looks in general. I will say that the PM2 is a great knife. Its light strong and enables a good secure grip.I do a lot of hiking, camping, etc, and I usually take a fixed blade (pukko). Unfortunately, when im with my son and the boy scouts, they don't like fixed blades. I find the PM2 very uncomfortable cutting hard stuff, like wood walking sticks, etc. The top of the narrow scales dig into my hand. I usually end up taking my M4 bladed large Griptillian. I find it much more comfortable when faced with serious cutting in materials like hard wood.

My PM2 arrived a few days ago and I have to say, I couldn't be happier! It came razor sharp and the ergonomics are perfect for my hands. I would post a picture but for some reason my tinypic wont work (as soon as I fix it I'll post Pics). Anyhow thanks for all the help!

I had a PM2 that chipped from popping the safety off a lighter, but I blame the factory edge. After putting my own edge on it, I've never had a problem beating it up afterwards. S30V itself can be a little chippy, but edge geometry is another consideration.

Congrats Wraith!!!
I have a funny feeling there is a silly grin glued on your face bro!!
Great knife that will just get smoother!!!
Flick away!
