Should we combine the Dealer & Individual for sale forums?

I vote seperate. The dealer stuff doesn't interest me much. I don't like to wade through it.

Yeap keep two forums. If the dealers want more traffic they can post better prices and earn customers the same way everybody else does.

This latest guy in the Busse forum is only one of a long history of guys that do that. I got in a heated arguement about that there long ago.

They should remain seperate.

Dealers, including the aforementioned individual, needs to be restricted to the Dealer forum. No special treatment for anyone. If he is allowed to sell in the Busse forum, so should every other dealer.

Alaska Knife used to carry Busses. I never saw them post out in the individual forums. They also seemed to sell just about everything they put up.

It seems like some are "dogging" dealers. There are many great dealers out there, and let's face it, most all knives that individuals have came from dealers. I hope some dealers weigh in on this subject.

I'm not sure anyone has dissed the dealers. A lot of focus has been on one individual who smells like a dealer and looks like a dealer, but who posts in the regular Exchange forum (yes, I realize it's sanctioned by Busse, but that doesn't make it right) and who sometimes treats the Manufacturer forum like a window onto his sales floor.

All the reasons listed to keep them seperate make perfect sense and should be considered. On the other hand, dealer members pay 8 times more than gold, and that section gets very little traffic (which is why so many dealers try to resist the title). If the forums are combined, you would probably see an increase in dealer memberships from those who should have them, but I don't think the actual sales threads would increase all that much. At least not enough to cause issues, but probably resolve the ones we're having already.

Here's my thought. Combine the forums, and add a --DEALER-- prefix to the list. That would let dealers have the traffic they deserve, but let people know the situation before clicking. If everyone keeps their threads consolidated, it would be a clean solution that would let dealers get traffic and buyers see things they're missing by not going into the dealer forums. It would also let small-time dealers sell from their personal collection and do trades without having to worry if they're gonna be reported for being in the wrong forum.

On the other hand, if the forums are kept the way they are, I believe the rules should apply to everyone equally. That or move the Busse for sale froum out of the exchange and into the Busse forum and let them mod it, so Mike and Dann don't have to appear to be giving special treatment to one person (there's actually more than just LK, which only furthers the issue) while infracting others for the same thing.

Off topic, but since he's been brought up, some members have mentioned that whenever they mention wanting a certain Busse or ask general questions about edcs etc. that happen to mention Busse in the thread, they get spammed through the BFC email system by a certain individual/dealer. That should be stopped in my opinion.

Kiah's suggestion looks good on the surface, but from my perspective as a moderator of those forums, it is going to cause me a huge headache.

Dann and I already have problems with multiple threads from individuals on the front page, and I can see this being compounded by certain dealer members.

I would prefer it to be left as is, with all members, including the certain dealer, posting only where they are supposed to.

As I stated before; if one certain dealer is going to post for sale items in the Busse for sale area, the rest of the dealers should as well.

No favortism. Makes it difficult to do my job.

I agree with Mike G. If there are dealers who come across a Busse knife through a trade or collection purchase, they should be allowed to post it in the Busse Exchange area as well.

By separating the Busse Knife group into its own exchange forum, it sends the message that that is the place to go in order to buy a Busse Kin blade. So anyone, individual or dealer, who is selling one, should have access to this venue.

For the record, once again, we only have two dealers. One (ThatMguy) is restricted to a couple of local gun shows only, and the other (Idaho Skunk) runs our company store and is restricted from selling anything other than his personal knives on Bladeforums. We currently only have these two set up as Busse dealers.

Liu Kang pays the same amount as everyone else and then marks up from there. The list of folks who buy our knives at the regular price and then resell them for a profit down the road is endless.

Hope this helps,

Jerry :D

Jerry, I appreciate the support on my point of view, and if this is allowed by Spark, it will make things easier on all of us.

Could Spark or another mod please clarify something for me?

I have sold a number of knives, some mint, some used/sharpened from my personal collection to either buy more knives or shop equipment as a platinum member here and have perfect feedback.

I just this past week purchased a dealer membership because I wanted to sell off some inventory I have from a website I just shut down. I haven't decided if I'm going to continue to be a knife dealer or not, but thought the $200 dealer fee would be worth it to at least off load what I've got on hand for now while I'm deciding what to do.

I have a couple of existing personal sales threads from before I bought my dealer membership. Am I in violation? If so, is there a way for me to have my dealer inventory for sale and still sell personal items from my own collection. Buying, using, and selling knives has been a way for me own and use lots of different knives without going broke. If something I use doesn't quite suit me or I see something I like better, I can sell it and use the proceeds to fund future knife purchases.

What's the best way for me to do this and stay within the rules?

Thanks

Had this brought up to me today. What do you guys think?

no, that would cause to much overflow in one section. the dealers should have their knives separate from the general population. Dealers dont update as often as the (individual) section therefore there threads would get buried in a matter of hours.

my 2 cents

does that mean any dealer who is selling a busse family knife can post in the regular busse exchange?

what about buck?

i say we leave the forums as they are, and restrict all dealers to this area.
