The only one I have is a 70's era Schrade. It use to be my Dads. He never used it, it just stayed in the box... Still don't have my camera back so no pics

When you hold one of those knives, you know it will do anything you ask of it.
Very substantial knives.

I guess I lied. I have another one. A current production Marbles.
Its a beefy knife and actually the F&F is good on it. Bone scales aren't bad either. Plus it came with a lined zippered case
I bought it to check out the quality level. I think I paid 18 dollars for it :D

Great thread idea Blues! One of my top 3 favorite patterns, and the one that started my love affair with folders/slippies; My Dads' old Schrade, he carried for years in the AK bush when they homesteaded(from mid 70s).... If I can get it from him, I'll get a better pic in the next couple days..

Took me 3 years after starting to get me one, to finally do it, a R. Rider in rifleman brown bone.

Then grabbed one of the newer Marbles ones(ain't got a pic cause I took it apart to make a single bladed version and it ain't back together yet).

And my pride and joy, and EDC again lately- this is its second year starting a tradition using it for Thanksgiving eating duties-, the Amherst Cutlery 1 of 6 prototype in ATS34 and real stag. I really should get an updated pic of it, its less shiny from use so far...

Here are a couple more, a Schrade-Walden 25OT Alaska Hunter,

Eric

Oh, now thats just cool... although, I may be biased on anything marked Alaskan ;)

Great examples, fellas. Thanks for sharing them.

(A couple of images which weren't a good fit for this thread were excised without prejudice.)

I have been recently looking at the Moore Maker folding hunter. I think it might find a home here one day soon. I love the pattern.

Here are mine, one of my favorite patterns. Buck, Case, Frontier Powderhorn, and Schrade Craftsman.

Here's mine. I bought it about 35 or so years ago, and it's as tight as the day I bought it. Absolutely NO blade play, takes a great edge, and you better keep your fingers out of the way when you close it! Great knife. 8 dots, for those who care.

Bad pics, but my camera is broken and I took these a while back for ID purposes.
This is an old Case, is has wood handles. My uncle died at the age of 36, from multiple strokes and complications from a brain tumor. I then got this knife, and while I dont abuse it, I do use it, just like he would have done. It has gutted and butchered two deer for me so far this year, holding a wicked edge. When it gets dull, a couple strokes on the stone will bring it back to hair poppin' sharp.

Perhaps this is the terminology that Blues is referring to;

Taken from The Working Folding Knife by Steven Dick

"The standard size here is 5 1/4 inches long closed, with one wide clip point blade and one straight back skinner blade. Both saber ground and flat ground clip point blades are common, but the skinner blade is always flat ground."

Hope that helps.

I find this very interesting. From the knives posted thus far, does this rule hold true? I am wondering if it should read, "but the skinner blade is always flat or hollow ground" ?

I guess the author can't be held responsible for (all of) the different makers proclivities. :p

This is a great thread. Its funny how folks don't talk about them much, but there sure seems to be a lot of nice ones here...

That's cause if you ain't wearin' suspenders you might get mistaken for a plumber...(I'm just sayin'...:p)

I dug thru tons of stuff to find a Folding Hunter other than this one but there weren't one.

That's a whale of a knife, Greg! Thanks for sharing it, Cap'n!

Here are some more Buck 317 Trailblazers. Camillus constructed. Discontinued. Bottom Left to Right: First knife is a serrated secondary blade, fairly rare; Second knife is one of only two saleman prototypes known. Notice the small scale rivets. No other 317 ever had'em ; Third knife is the first standard big run, stamped BUCK, Made In U.S.A., 317 stamped on reverse; last is one of the examples of three etched blade 317s, each is serial numbered. Never have seen a colored scale, have seen some custom scales. Just so you know ahead of want, they are high priced and I don't know why. I was thinking it is because the black scale and black sheath go well with Harley gear......300Bucks
