5 1/4", snaps like a 'gator, and I've only carried it once since '01. Gotta put it back into my "hiking" rotation.

That is a handful!

Looks like a lead in for It Came From Outer Space!

Took me awhile to dig this one out:D It was my dads work EDC. Pops was a Merchant Marine and really got his moneys worth out of her as you can see. He also left an 80T that was pretty minty as this one was still serviceable, you know kinda the "if it ain't broke" school of thought. Pops like all depression era babies was very conservative to down right frugal about certain things. This is my most valuable knife.

Damn, I thought the stag on mine was wide!

Was looking for info on the smaller Schrades and found this older thread, some more 5"+ hunter eye candy;

And actually, could someone tell me the brand of the big black one in the first pic of that thread? its got a spear point or maybe spey secondary and is rather sweet looking IMO!

My dad and a friend found this one walking on the beach at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba sometime around 1970. Walk and Talk is great, but it's been retired because of a cracked handle (opposite side) and the fear of losing it.

Ice I have seen that logo, and etching on some marked Sears Craftsman. Hope this helps. I do not think they are selling that style any more though! Some one with more knowledge than me will be along and correct me if I am wrong. HL

Hmm, Thanks fellows!
I'll have to do some digging around and see what i can find, a drop point/spear blade on a hunter really does sound useful.

Here is another example of the knife in question. The other one was indeed made for Sears.

Nice!

I just had a thought, these with the 'liner lock' down the middle, do they just have one for the master blade, or are they doubled, one for each blade?

I snagged this from a display case at a little hardware store. The Boker has staining on the skinning blade from being in so long.

This is a great pattern.

When I was in high school years ago at a little country school in deepest Oklahoma, folding hunters were the knife to have for all the redneck kids.

We carried them in our back pockets, the one that didn't have the Skoal can in in it. :)

Times were so different then.

We would carry a little whetrock or crock stick and in class when we had our work done, pull out the big knife and the stone and tune on the already whisper sharp edges.

A boy that could really put an edge on a blade could hold his head high among his peers.

We'd sharpen our pencils with them too. :)

I never saw a teacher bat an eye over that kind of thing.

Things are sure different now.

I'd love to carry mine from time to time but it keeps making my pants fall down. ;):p

Thanks to all for sharing some great images of the classic full size folding hunter pattern. There's nothing else quite like it.

A last shot. This was just given to me by a forum member. It is an Eye Brand made for The Texas Knife Collector's Association.

Thanks Dennis.

She's a beauty, Frank. That Dennis sure is a fine fella. (I should know.):cool:
