Show me that Alox wear!

My friend that gave me the Marlboro Trail Guide a couple of weeks ago, sent me a worn pioneer for my collection too.

Been pretty busy but finally shot a quick pic of it.

Operationally perfect, it will be a good match to my old worn Farmer.

Thanks for the info :)

Whoever might have had it before must have carried it very much. Seems to be well used but in no way abused.

Thanks for sharing this picture.

Sakguy, you should work in marketing or advertising for Victorinox. Your knives combined with the background and colored lanyards are awesome. I had picked up a black pioneer a couple of months back, but it has just never grown on me. I've carried it here and there but it has mostly sat on the dresser. I carry a buck for my main blade, but usually carry a 2 layer sack in addition. I've always preferred red for a sak. After this thread, I went ahead and ordered a nib red pioneer yesterday. I'm going to put my black one back in the box for a backup and use the red one for carrying.

Thank you jec88! Was a professional photog for almost 15 years and been pursuing it as fine art since the early 70's. Although I own thousands of dollars in film cameras, I use a 25 dollar digital camera these days. :D

You'll love that red Pioneer!

Humppa, that Wenger SI looks really good!

I have a chance to get a few of these and now I'm wondering what the members here think of them.

The bail is awesome, but I here things about the SI that does put me off a little. Things like poor factory edges, side to side play and rougher finish compared to a Vic.

You must be talking about a counterfeit, seeing as a Wenger and Vic alox soldier is identical in every respect.

I may be pulling the trigger then.

The SI's just look so right with the military shield and bail!

One quick question - Do the tools have the same snap on the SI compared to the Vic Soldier?

I just received my red pioneer yesterday. It came from Swiss Bianco Canada. ....I think I can say that here since they are a sponsor?
Anyway I have a question on these. Where did they come up with these red ones? Are they a special run or just new older stock from a few years ago? It was new in box and new in every way.
I'm wanting to get in better shape and I like the way the worn red alox looks so I have a new plan. I'm going to carry my new Pioneer in my left pocket, all alone with no change or keys, and be more active with the goal of making my sak look like the ones in the above pictures. By the time my sak looks like the ones in this thread, I'll either be in shape or worn out too.

The red Pioneers were a std catalog item for Vic Canada. They are discontinued now so they are limited to stock on hand (per one of the SB guys). I have one and they are excellent knives!!!

Congrats!!!!

If you wan't it to look like the ones above you should carry it in the pocket WITH the keys and change.
