Show me that Alox wear!

I know I should carry it with keys and coins and that would speed up the process, but I don't want it to seem like fake pocket wear. I mean if it looked like all the nice ones in this thread in only 6 months time, I think I'd feel like a poser :)

I think you are taking the term pocket wear a bit to literal. In my opinion its not just from it wearing on your pocket, but rather your pocket and other things in your pocket. Honestly if you carried a alox in your pocket with nothing else in it, it would take you 50 years to get it looking like those in this thread.

Your right. I'll eventually start dropping something in there with it once the new wears off. It's just kind of like that first scratch on a new car thing.

Here are the two that I just got that have some wear on them already. (I also got some new shiny ones this week too!)

The read one is great and all ready for some pocket time. The green one needs a little cleaning and doesn't have much if any snap left so it's going to need a little TLC.

Why not just carry the dang thing however is most convenient and not fuss over how the surfaces wear? Deliberately beating up the finish is bogus, IMHO. Just let time and use take care of the alox and eventually you will have something real. So what if it looks good longer? Duh?

Yesterday, I got locked out of the house by that old metal screen door and this got me back in!

You need to put that in the "What did you do with your SAK today?" thread. Please show pics of mangled screen door, and main door knocked off its hinges as proof you got in with your SAK.:D

LOL! Nah, I just jimmied it at the facing..it happens a couple times a year. I was here by myself at the farm and probably could have opened it with a shovel out of the tractor shed or something but I was standing there in a tee shirt, shorts and flip flops...the Pioneer made it sooo much easier in the 101F heat!

That looks nice! I recently started carrying a black Pioneer, can't wait until it looks like that...though I'm guessing it'll be quite a while!

Now you have an extra screwdriver to add to that knife's list of functions!

That was meant for the one above with the broken main blade, sorry I replied to wrong post.

LOL! :D Yeah, I hope to send it in to get fixed someday.

Will Victorinox replace blades on the old Alox knives with brass liners? I have one could use a new main blade.

Yes but you absolutely have to tell them that the knife has special significance to you and you only want it repaired or they might replace it with a nice new one. Read about the repair service on their website.

Awesome!!! I have an old cross Electrician with brass liners that someone along the way did a real number on trying to sharpen it. The rest of the knife is in pretty good shape though. I think I'll try sending it in with a special note about replacing the blade NOT the whole knife. Think that would work? I'm assuming that the new blades are the same size and will fit the old ones?

I would contact them by email, tell them what the deal is and let them advise you what to do next. I did that a couple on months ago about an old Farmer's main blade and that's how I knew about the sentimental value statement.
