Show me your custom camp knife/chopper.

Here's one I got to try out recently. I wish I owned it, but it was made by Tai Goo and purchased by Jeff Sanders .... I tested it on some hard dry seasoned mesquite, while roughing out a wooden spoon. It held its edge perfectly. We also did some other tasks with it, like chopping some green branches and making a tent stake. The handle is one of Tai's original creations...a special cork interior covered with those signature Turk's head knots. The handle absorbs shock well. The overall balance and angle were superb. It felt like an ideal camp knife.

Here it is with a nessmuk, also made by Tai and owned by Jeff. Perfect camp set!

My 8" 52100 Bill Buxton is specially beveled for chopping with a heavy duty tang and threaded butt cap. Here's a pic before it was well used.

Distal tapered compact chopper in 80 CrV 2

Here a write up on it
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1352507-Distal-Taper-Chopper-80-CrV-2

Above pics tweaked slightly in regards to making them a lighter tone. Apart from that not shopped. What little daylight there was, was fading fast when I took the pics.

The following Q and D pics of the chopper in action at an earlier occasion are phone pics, so please excuse the quality of those (also).

The chopper went through this in no time flat and with no need for long pauses. I just felt like chopping more instead of feeling like I was punishing myself, as Ive felt before with other choppers with a different design.

Again, not something this chopper is usually being called to do at any large scale, but for the testing of the blade and for knowing, how the chopper can perform, its fun to do.

Okay, Ill admit it - I wasnt responsible for this one; a decent sized storm passed through and toppled a LOT of trees

The handle fits my hand perfectly. As I asked for, there is a bit of room to shift the grip or use another hand hold, if needed.

That is one fine looking blade! You are off to a fantastic start!

Just acquired this Kopis style chopper from AlfaKnife. 21" overall with about a 14" cutting edge, 5160 deferentially heat treated. Its my second blade from him. His craftsmanship is amazing. Balance on this thing is perfect and the G10 handle scales are very well designed making her feel like she is glued to my hand.

Very nice steevee. Though i think it would look better if you taper the tang.

steevee,

That brute looks like a real work horse. Good lookin' knife. Plus, I really like 01.

***This is not my knife

It was posted by Thanakrit in another sub forum - He's from Thailand... I just wanted to post this here because I love the forward drilled lanyard hole thru the integral bolster and clean handle!
