I posted one on the first page of this epic thread, but I wanted to add two more to the collection. These were both made withing the last six months with Fingal being just a 3 wk old newborn.

There are some amazing knives in this thread!!

Camp Bowie/Chopper has a 7 1/2" blade w/ Red Maple burl handle and brass on all pieces, The doe skin lined bubinga sheath comes complete with matching fire steel and striker.

I'm a little late to the party.....I think most of these will fit the bill:

I'd say so - that is an AWESOME chopper collection. Burt's cleaver and Lin's competition cutters are particularly appealing.

This is one I finished up for myself just a few weeks ago. I'd never had a proper "big chopper"...... I do now!

Blade: O1 steel 3/16" x 11" cutting edge length, 3 3/8" at its widest.
Handle: Figured Bubinga with black fiber liners and ebony pins.
Sheath: Bubinga, fully lined with oiled leather, full welt, removable shoulder strap.

Very Cool!!!!!!

I was particularly pleased that Ron Newton was able to get third place at Branson with the G3 above pictured with the Jade colored handle. This knife was waiting on a sheath and Ron did'nt have a cutter at the time so.......we decided to test it a little. Here he's cutting a 1 inch rope suspended on a thread. This is after the 2 X 4 chop. Yep, I was kind a proud of him. :D Lin

Hand-rubbed 600 grit on a 3V blade that size is the worst kind of self-flagellation... I'm really impressed! It sucks that such a wonderful steel is so brutal to finish this way - but of course, that's why it's such a great steel, right? ; )

Matthew,

I have something like 30 hours in hand rubbing the blade, that is after taking it to 16x on the grinder. Really has me rethinking make any more knives from this steel, since I perfer hand rubbed blades. I still have a 4" x 28" sheet of the 3V left, but it will sit awhile.

I sympathize completely. Did a 4" hunter that took 3 times as long to bring to 600 grit than a 10" fighter in 1095 took to 2000 grit! Someone better appreciate all the hard work you put in, that's all I know... ;)
