Thanks Folks. Unstamed, excuse my ignorance but what a Salamat Sword?
I would like to see a picture. You have??
Eduardo Berardo

Hola Senor!

Ah, salamat is a Malay word meaning "Thank you" which we also use here in the Philippines :). I was actually thanking Mohd who is from Malaysia.

As for swords in our history and culture, here are some examples -

This poor photo is similar to what I have, a common design of the non-Moro influenced swords -

It was hard telling Paul Savage to take his time and keep pretending I wasn't eager, but I managed to hold back. The day finally came this past weekend at the Canadian Knifemakers Guild show when he surprised me by having it ready. I managed to avoid giggling and appear critical.

"Savage Beast" chopper.
L6/O1 differentially hardened Damascus for the blade, guards, and pommel.
Walnut for the handle, about 17" overall.

The next hike up north with the wife will be woe for deadfall.

I don't know who brought this thread back up, but I'm sure glad they did - some great new additions.

^^^What's the wood on that Matt Roberts piece above? It's gorgeous.

I don't think I've seen Buckeye dyed quite so dark - I like it a lot.

Actually Salamat (or selamat) means safe. Selamat pagi for example is Safe morning (used similar to Good morning).

Don't want to derail but thought I'd throw this in.

I got a custom chopper with leather custom sheath from a forum member (Can't remember the name). Excellent chopper which cuts larger than it looks. I'll post a picture soon so he can come up and let me know who he is :)
