Show Me Your Ivory ;)

A Budding and Grafting knife!!
I've always liked purpose-built work knives. This W. Saynor "DEPEND" is a masterpiece of simplicity and ingenuity. It's got everything it needs to be a horticultural knife!!
All in one piece of Ivory!!

That is very cool Charlie  :)

I remember, one time as a child, my uncle, who had been in the Royal Navy, told me about the time, when he was on HMS Bulwark, an aircraft carrier, and the captain called everyone up on deck, through the tannoy, as there was a fight taking place between a shark and a whale off one of the bows. I don't know what sort of shark was involved, or what sort of whale, but it must have been a pretty spectacular and unusual occurrence

Yeah, I don't even know where it was Charlie, and my uncle died when I was a teenager so I can't ask him. I've seen a few dolphins and seals, thought that was pretty exciting! :D

As I await a lunch partner at Old Ebbitt in Washington DC, these walrus ivories hang over my head at their bar.

A few years ago, I had the honor of spending a couple days at the White House for an educational summit but the real highlight of the trip was dining at Old Ebbitt! What a cool, historic place! I missed seeing those Walrus mounts, though.
