One of my favorites-made by Hawk Designs of Salmon, ID. to carry on your belt. For urban or rural use!

I can't wait to get home and take some pictures of mine. It's good to see you so much diversity in your kits. Like everyone here went and did there own thing, and yet they're all great. A common theme I noticed is they all have a knife/knives. As they should. :p The other thing I noticed is most of them (but not all) are carried on the person and not inside their back pack. I've been experimenting with a canteen setup but I haven't been able to get it to work (You can read my review in the gear section).

JCL-MD is that a set of lockpicks in your coffee cup edc? (great outside the box thinking BTW) Please explain :)

Yes on the lockpicks!
This idea was not mine, I got it from Gunnery Sergeant David Williams (Norseman).
I just thought it was a great way to keep some gear right at hand!

THANKS!!

Here's a post from the Becker forum about one of my mini-kits...

I'm starting to put the finishing touches on this belt rig.
I did install the micarta handle on the new BK2 Campanion, and I must say I like the feel.
The scales alter the balance a little, but the skeletonized tang does help keep the handle weight in check.

Here's the rig with dedicated sheath, a Spec Ops Survival:

The tin is one I picked up from BestGlide. It has a rubber seal around the lid, and it's just a tad smaller than the normal Altoids tin. It's a better fit for this sheath.

Here are contents spread out. They consist of a Light My Fire 2.0 steel and whistle, an ESEE arrowhead, a button compass, a Photon II light, a Leatherman Mini Tool, and a packet of petroleum jelly cotton. I'll probably top off the tin with some strike anywhere matches, maybe coated with a little wax.

The fire steel is one I just picked up today at REI. It's a cool gadget.

They've changed the striker to be more compact and ergonomic.

The striker and steel nest together nicely.

And the big bonus is that the striker is actually a survival whistle.

And here's a murse kit I posted up there recently. I've added a pen, tablet, and duct tape to it since then.

So I've been putting together a murse project, and the endeavor has resulted in what I'm calling the Beckerhead Modular Murse (BMM) ©.
Weight currently comes in at 5 lbs. 14 oz. I know you guys like the exploded view, so I'm breaking it down by compartment.

Compartment 1: EsKabar with Sh@rp scales.

P1030907.jpg

Compartment 2: Snow Peak Ti Spork, wind shield for Snow Peak Gigapower stove, lid for Snow Peak Solo Ti Cookset.

P1030908.jpg

Compartment 3: space blanket, signal mirror, Wetfire tinder (x2), Exotac Matchcap with REI Stormproof matches, signal whistle, mini Bic, fire steel, mini first-aid kit, Maratac AAA flashlight, Victorinox Outdoorsman, Princeton Tec Scout head lamp.

P1030910.jpg

Compartment 4: instant coffee, instant creamer, hot chocolate mix, pot lifter, scrub pad, Snow Peak Ti Gigapower stove with Piezo lighter.

P1030909.jpg

Compartment 5: mesh bag, 16 oz. Nalgene, cup and pot from Snow Peak Solo Ti Cookset, gas canister stand, gas canister.

Here I am modeling the Beckerhead Modular Murse © with my matching OD belt.
I'm presently consulting with a fashion-coordination team at TackleF@#$ Forge and Design Institute.
We're collaborating on some OD tactical nylon footwear and head gear to complete the ensemble.

Better than I expected, actually.
You can sling it over a shoulder and carry hip-side.
In this position, the bag set-up actually forms a contour that fits the hip pretty well (see below).
Or you can cross the strap over your head and carry it more in the lumbar area of the back.

Hey guys, here is my from the thrift store shave bag with some junk I EDC, I need to add to it (it itself I have other stuff in my backpack), stuff like flashlight, some tinder instead of dryer lint, maybe a little Altoids kit. This is a start though.
SurvivalKitEDC006.jpg

This outer bag rotates through my hiking backpack too, hmm I may need a duplicate.

Some cheap and heavy Ozark Trail (Wal-Mart) multi tool (Change me. Change me) I need to change it, it has a saw though.. Okay (update, I added my One hand Trekker SAK)
SurvivalKitEDC009.jpg

Here’s the main bag of the kit, it’s mostly plastic bags (large) and zip ties with a roll of condensed duct tape, Bic lighter in package still, toilet paper.

Then the final bag, I need to add some antibiotic ointment, but the date keeps on making them out of date. Hmm. I need something else here.

Any suggestions are welcome.

^ when putting together a kit I like to think of large groupings- shelter, fire, water, signaling, navigation, first aid- dependent on the size of the kit I try to incorporate the most appropriate items in the different groupings

I see tons of band aids for boobo's WTH. No one is considering Quick Clot which is much more practical in the event I actually need first aid?;) Just curious as these mini kits are larger than the kit in my hunting pack. Knife and firesteel on the sheath and the altoid container full of as much as I can stuff into it wrapped in paracord, sans band aids. I don't see any aspirin or Excedrine (for the caffeine) Damn I just jinxed myself into needing a band aid and getting a headache when I go hunting this weekend. I am searching for the "murse" thread as well so I can ask them to turn in their man card. :D

It actually made my day to see new posts on this thread, I hope there are many more to come. Anybody got any kits to show that belong to their kids or that the kids carry???

Hey RTW I actually carry 3 packs of quick clot in my larger kit(1-50g and 2-25g's) and I keep one 25g in me medium car kit. I also have compression bandages, gauze and stitching gear/scalpel and my largest kit, its a huge medical kit(not size wise but scope of equipment).

I'll get mine up here after I test a new knife if I have any luck hunting this weekend.

Love it..... I actually have murse envy.

Now I am curious and have a questions for all the murse carrying guys out there. Are you using the materials in the pack on a regular rotation basis, somewhat as needed? I am trying to stay out of my mini-kit thinking I have verified the list of items a dozen times to ensure all items will be there when needed. I have a reminder on the calendar to change out water tablets and meds. I even built an excel spreadsheet for each one, house, truck, wifes car and hunting pack so I know quantities. If I dig into the pack I alway forget an item that I know I will kick myself for later when it is really needed. Not trying to hijack a thread, just curious since we are discussing kits and I this is triggering me to review mine.

Ok, as promised here are a couple of my little kits. The knives rotate, as would be expected. I haven't used any of these kits, but I have used individual components from each over the years, so I can say I trust them.

The AMK/Ritter pocket kit is a prize from the Fall Beckerhead gathering. The only thing I have added is a mini-bic.

Here’s a mini kit that I keep in my girlfriend’s car. It came with the emergency road side kit and the first aid kit, I just modded them some and added the backpack.
