Show me your your best compact/mini kits

What I carry while hiking as a backup. I put it all in a ziplock freezer bag and then in the pouch to the right.

There is a small compass under the photon as well as a spare set of batteries for it. The spool on the bottom has spectra on it. there is also a mini AMK signal mirror under all the items on the right. That is Gorilla tape on the top that also has 1 alcohol wipe and 2 butterflies in the middle. Tin is a heavy duty one from Countycomm. I should add a few purification tabs.

Thats a nice mini kit Tixx. Is that one of those small puysk button lights, in wood grain???:thumbup:

I don't have pictures, but right now my "grab and go' kit is an F-250 (not my truck) with a roll caged sundowner camper outfitted with your basic BLS stuff (O2, AED, bandaging and splinting) :) Ok, so I cheat, but I figure if I have to sit in it all day it counts as my office, living room, and survival kit. From that the grab and go is a duffel and Maxped jumbo, cold weather and all that ya know.

Looking at all these cool kits motivated me to dig the kit I keep in my day pack out and post some pics of it.

I found a tin about the size of an Altoids tin, but about half again as long, that a pen and pencil set came in. I wrapped it in some para-cord and attached my Izula to it.

Here is the kit without the knife. There is about 30' of cord wrapped around it, it also has about four layers of duct tape on both the top and bottom of the tin.

An view of the packed kit. There are a few utility knife blades taped to the underside of the lid. I didn't get a picture of the inside of the bottom of the tin, but I taped some safety pins, snelled hooks and jigs to it.

And the contents laid out.

For fire starting I have have a magnesium rod with ferro rod attached, a chunk of fatwood, mini bic, a fire-straw and some waterproof matches.
First aid items: a couple of alcohol prep pads (also can catch a spark from the ferro rod) couple of packs of pain killer, antibiotic ointment packs, band aids, and some sunscreen. There is a nail with some fishing line around it, a whistle, a photon light with a holder for it that allows it to be hung around your neck, and a little button compass. The inside of the tin is pretty shiny, it may work as a makeshift signal mirror. I keep this kit in my Camelback day pack, I also keep a couple of contractor trash bags inside a couple of ziplock bags in the bladder compartment of the pack. I just realized that I need to add some water purification tablets to the kit.
