Show off your 15's

Toting a new-to-me 15 today...the recent chatter about Northfield 15s has me postulating that some of these long pulls with beautiful jigging were just mis-branded :)

When....when oh when is GEC going to make a 15 with this amazing feature set? Barehead, long pull spear jigged bone perfection...just the wrong size! :)

The last few pages have inquiries about which 15s were Northfields, etc.

I was sardonically opining that many of the most cherished Tidioute 15s seem more like Northfield trim. Sorry if it was poorly written and I got your bloodpressure going :)

New Northfield 15s would get me all riled up!

I must agree, all 15s look better without that extra cap...and the 14 has the right look but I can't find the feel of the thing credible, at least in single blade form. This is a shame as it's excellently turned but I think GEC has yet to get a small knife right. Comes close with the 33 Conductor but the bolsters are too big for the frame.....09,18,22 all too toy like and yet I can very much like a small knife when its proportions and feel are correct.

15# is hands down my favourite pattern, and a spear with long pull is my favourite blade on a traditional.

I was lucky to get hold of this 152112 a year ago. According to GEC they only made 60 pieces of the steel lined nifebrite. It came to me unsharpened n'unused. But.. It had pretty severe bladeplay sideways. I was heartbroken! I live in Norway so sending it all the way back to GEC was not tempting at all. I read and searched about slipjoints and bladeplay, trying to find some arguments to help ease my mind. There are different meanings on the topic out there, of course, but I was not happy. My grail(almost) slipjoint and it had bladeplay.. :(

So some weeks later I sent it all the way back to Titusville, scared as hell of it beeing lost in the mail systems across the globe.

Had very good communications with staff at GEC both before, meanwhile and after they fixed the knife. It came back a couple of weeks later, I have no idea what they did to it. Maybe they just smacked the bolster a couple of times? Who knows, but it came back to me ROCK SOLID.:thumbsup:

It seems like a daunting repair to me at first too, but it's actually pretty easy to fix with a block of wood and a rubber mallet. Nothing for GECU to fix that for you, and I'll bet they were happy to do it too. Good-looking knife buddy!

Also, I dig your avatar. Learn to swim!

Thank you.

I'm praying for tidal waves. ;)
