Whoa, I am enjoying this thread. What an array of beautiful bone scales on these knives we have on display here. Very nice contest pappy! What a gorgeous Dog you have in Ginger too!. And the Gents knife ain't half bad(exquisite) either!.
Thanks very kindly for hosting this contest and for the fine opportunity and its such great fun.
I love the old bone of the early to middle-ish 20th century made in America.. Old Green bone, old Rogers bone, old Winter bottom bone, old Brown bone, ect.. Here is my one & only post with a few favorites..
A vintage Brown bone Schatt & Morgan dog leg jack.
A vintage Rogers bone Queen City stockman
A very worn from pocket carry Green bone Case XX large stockman.
Here is a NYK hammer brand that is a pretty good example of their style. Also, please leave me out of your very generous contest. That is a great looking knife that can find a much happier home with someone who likes to collect modern knives. - Dan
WOW! The bones this thread has brought out!! KnifeHead that Honey picked bone is honey sweet! Is that a Trapper Thomason? I like the natural look of the bone on that.
ok well i dont know know if stag counts as bone but i it does then here is my Northwoods Scagel. If ti doesnt then here is my Case Amber Bone trapper. Not as nice as some of ya'lls here but i like it myself.
And pappy that is gorgeous mamoth ivory. the exact type id want for myself. thanks for this chance to win an awesome knife.
Well, I have a severe lack of both photagraphy skill and high-end bone, but here are a few of my favorites. I wish I knew what this first one was. It has no tang stamp and Mount Vernon Dryer Felt Co. etched on the blade. The bone is great, the texture is marvelous.
Queen Amber Bonestag Toothpick
Camillus Tuxedo. Great jigging for being so tiny.
I know the Spyderco/ Jess Horn isn't really traditional, but it does have some nice bone.
My best loved bone handled knife is a custom, or fancy, and definitely not new. This one belonged to my Great Grandfather. The bone is the color of warm caramel and defines the term "pocket worn".
Navihawk, is that an Ulster Knife Co, BSA, number 1502 with a broken re-profiled blade? I have one of those with a full blade but a pocket worn shield. Nice bone.
