Show RAT Cutlery your support! Post Here!

I sent them a very respectful email. I CCed it to the guys Mike and Jeff.

Maybe it would help if Jeff and Mike contacted Scott Gossman as I remember he went through a similar lawsuit, I know Scott finished up changing his Razorback name but he may still be able to give them a heads up !!!

And if nothing else it will show that the name is not the be all and end all as I don't think Scott lost any customers !!!

I have been a member of the Ontario RAT forum since 2005. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff last year at Blade. I own quite a few Ontarios and have a RC-4 on preorder. I will no longer buy or recommend Ontario knives to anyone again unless the management at Ontario withdraws this suit.

 they are gonna have LOADS of emails by now,i think i' ll join in too, and send one.i don' t think i will buy any more ontario knives though..unless the management changes.

I no longer own an Ontario blade-sold it years ago, and was considering buying a RC-3. I am all about the little guy making a buck over a huge corporation. This confirms it! Gonna support the people who pour blood, sweat, and tears into their product, not the ivory tower dweller.

I have several rat knives, from ontario and rat. This disgusts me and I will be sending them an email. I really like the rat line and hope that this is just a rumor.

That stinks. We need to wear T-shirts at Blade show this year.

I was just going to mention that. Those sorry bastards at the University of Arkansas were going to sue me blind. And for what. I was advised by a trademark lawyer to give in. No way I'd win. They would have bankrupt me in lawyers fees.
Jeff and Mike, you have my support. if I can do anything, let me know.
Scott

In this case, Jeff and Mike already own the name and intellectual property, so they have a strong case, I think.

Brian, if Jeff and Mike don't have their logo trademarked, Ontario can fight for it.
Scott

I do believe Jeff had it trademarked, and he was using it long before any association with Ontario, so proof of previous use would be strong anyway. But you're right, and I agree that if no trademark, scuzzball lawyers could maybe twist things around!

You really have to be careful when using a name. Remember when Bushmaster rifles had a problem with Anheuser Bush. The beer giant was going after them.
Scott

If he has it trademarked before Ontario, then he shouldn't have a problem.
Scott

I forgot about that case. Bush is bush. Well, at least, when you don't have a girlfriend right now, it seems that way.....but wait! We're talking trademarks! :p

Interesting thread
Keep us updated if your counsel allows
That stinks cause I LOVE the Old Hickory Pig Stickers
I give them as gifts for BBQ/steak turning use

Just give me the GO signal and I'll start buying them again

This would be a perfect story for some anti big corporation magazine or website
I think it definitely has that big David vs. Goliath feel....

well, i definatley support RAT cutlery, but i won' t just throw away my ontario knives, sure i won' t buy any new ones, till this is solved somehow, but i spent mone for those knives, and they ARE good knives, so what point does it have if i just throw them away.

Miro44,

No worries, nobody is asking you to do anything you don't want to do. Just knowing they have your support is enough, I'm sure!
