I am really loving all the great texture I'm seeing on knives lately. From acid textures,Hamons, patina, partial blasting, partial polishing on blades to unusual and creative handle textures . I am also noticing the deliberate contrasts makers are using to highlight these textures which ad a fresh dimention to the usual smoothed and polished fare.
Please post some pix of knives with texture. Share your thoughts, theme, inspirations, techniques, whatever.
Although textures have been around for a long time, I'm thrilled that more and more makers are exploring this area. Sooooooooo.......
SHOW THEM IF YA GOT UM!

I've always liked this "ice" treatment on Ti. Rather poor pic, though, sorry:

Texture can really add some visual dimesion to a piece. The following knives are all elevated, IMHO, by the addition of texture:

Textured handle:

Textured guard and butt cap:

Deep relief engraving and gold inlay add an element of texture:

You want texture, I got your texture right here:

And then there are countless examples of texture in the handle material itself - shown to dramatic effect here:

The forge marks on this one add something, in my opinion.

3 knives and 3 handle textures :

- Mayo : Carbon fiber : light but strong, nice grip even when wet, nice deep color/finish, kind of high-tech material.

- Marlowe : Natural : grippy, strong, I really loke that kind of old school finish for a tough utility folder.

- Williams : Texture Titanium : grippy, very nice non-scratching texture for a folder.

We kind of like knives that have a "textured" handle and are working on a few new ones right now. Here are some pictures of ones we have already done.

Every time I see this guard, I think it's the most beautiful guard ever put on a knife.

I left the bark edge on this stabilized birch burl handle of a small drop point hunter. It's definitely got texture.
