Show us the double baggers

I am not too sure why the Syderco Military is picked on - I look at it and don't find it beautiful or mildly attractive even, but I don't find it ugly either. That Spyderco Captain on the other hand . . . :barf:

I have knives that are tacticool - my BK9 (combat bowie) for example, you could imagine a marine slitting the throat of an enemy soldier in the dark of night on a covert operation. Some of the knives in this thread (budk and the dark ops for example) don't look like knives at all - they look more like props from science fiction movies!

I wouldn't even call them dork ops tacticool blades.

They're either Klingon or Romulan.

Exactly!

Necromantastic, I know, but I had to :)

I just received a Military (orange) today, and I confess I have seen the light. Surprisingly, there was no "warming up to it" time like when I bought my Delica; I took it out of the box tonight and found myself strangely pleased right off the bat. The knife looks MUCH better in person for some reason. The various pics I've seen just don't flatter it. I won't say it's the sexiest thing on the block, but it's something like that "only moderately good looking" girl whom, for some reason, you can't stop checking out....:D

So, finding the Millie easy on the eyes immediately was unexpected. What I did expect, was functional quality underlying the design and fit&finish. I am not disappointed: Very ergonomic (I can even use the chest-lever grip!), smooth action, solid lock-up, easily manipulated and controlled, slim and lightweight yet strong and substantial, agile and precise, great functional blade shape, easily used with gloves... And that's only what I've discovered in the past hour and a half of ownership :D

I foresee a long and happy future with this one :thumbup:

So, I retract my double-bag nomination :D

Thanks for bringing this one back from the grave for the update. I recently got my first Millie (hadda wait for the LH) and had a very similar first few hours. I took it out of the box, opened and gripped it a few times, and literally said out loud "oh, I get it now". Cool experience.

The best part is, it got even better from there.

You know, I'm going to get yelled at for this, but:

I'm sorry, but I just think the military is ugly. I can't help it! The aesthetics don't appeal to me. That being said, hearing so many great things about the knife, I will buy it sometime soon and give it a shot to see if it grows on me. I know that often a knife you think ugly in a picture, actually turns out to be a lot better in person. Besides, I felt the same way about the Delica before I bought it, though I wasn't turned off as strongly. Now, it is one of my favorite folders, and I LOVE its appearance. Weird. :o:D

When you buy one you'll understand why it's one of the most beautiful knives ever. Looking at it, I see organic handle shapes and raw function. I see exactly what a pocket knife should be. Ruthless in it's ability to perform as a tool, while not heeding aesthetics at all. Perfect.

EDIT: Just saw you did buy one :D

I don't like the looks of Extrema Ratio neither (they have some pretty ones, but very few).

I also don't like Severtech autos, I think they look like they're not quite finished yet.

sorry i ca'nt pic yet but have to remark that Dark Ops are not only most ugly but also the most ridculous knife ever made. you would'nt even be able to throw it without hurting yourself.

Most things by strider,

Plain Sebenza's,

A LOT of spyderco's..(that captain truly is horrible looking)

A LOT of mantis knives,

almost the entire BudK assortiment.

I do realise that a lot of those are functionally excellent....but that doesn't mean I have to like the way they look.

While I have one, I cannot say that it's an acquired taste as I still think it's fugly:

The Spyderco Adventura.

Taste is unique to the beholder. The Spyderco Adventura was my first Spyderco and I got it ENTIRELY based on appearance. Every time I showed it off to a knife enthusiast friend I was always taken back at the ho-hum comments I received...I never realized that some thought it was ugly LOL.

I used to utterly, completely detest the look of the Spyderco Stretch and Poliwog.

The Poliwog still looks ugly, but man does it feel nice!

The Stretch is growing on me.

For my money, it's hard to beat Spyderco in the pug-fugly category  Most of their knives look like they got in line for a second helping of ugly :D

I'd say this is the worst offender:

Emersons aren't exactly easy on the eyes either, though...

I wouldn't exactly say that Sebenzas are exactly ugly but they're just so whitebread.[after reading all the excited hype about Sebenzas I was very disappointed when I saw my first photo] I like knives with some flair so I kind of like the Strider above but the Dark Ops interceptor looks a little silly to me.
To state the obvious;it all comes down to personal taste.

aye the good ol' stabproof campeign in the UK. What we are looking at here gentlemen is the proposed future of knives in the UK, supposed to cut down on knife related crime specifically stabbing. Now instead of a perfed lung or kidney we are looking at slit throats and baseball bats. People are going to kill each other whether the Parliament likes it or not-I guess they just like really messy homicides or something.
I know I would much rather be shot and killed then be beat to death by 5 people with blunt objects...... but WAIT! I live in america I dont have to leave myself helpless I can carry a gun :p:p:p
