SHOW us what you do for a living (or retiring)

Considering your job, should you be posting pics of yourself on the internet???
It’s a very public job. I see myself on the news all the time. So a few pictures on blade forums won’t do me any more damage. Plus I think I’m the only Mexican hear.

I didn't make the computer chips but I built, installed, troubleshot and taught the people who ran the Wet Benches that made those chips how to operate and repair the equipment that made 'em.

There's a 99.99% chance that anything you own or use has a computer chip that was processed through one of these benches, AMD, Intel, Texas Instruments, Taisil, Micron, Phillips and probably a hundred more bought our benches.

This job gave me the opportunity to travel around the world for 6 years, every state in the U.S. 'cept AK and HI, from Taiwan to Sweden:) (loved the Wales and Amsterdam the best) and everywhere in between

No es la verdad, amigo. Tenemos muchos miembros de muchos paises.

I've been hired on for a new position which I start next week. While I don't have any photos of the establishment I'll be working at... This is what I'll be doing:

Working with knives.:cool::thumbup:
I'm going to be the administrative assistant for Murray Carter of cartercutlery.com.

So, buy some knives!

Edwood - You have a pretty awesome career. I'm pretty envious! (nah, I'm happy with my position ;))

I looked at your pictures, and they are cool. To show my ignorance, what is the purpose of it ?

Not ignorance, just unaware.

RCS data has a multitude of uses;

The backup sensors on your car? They need to know what a tricycle or Big Wheel look like. Disengage sensors on lawnmowers too.

Detecting hidden weapons so the TSA gets outta the junk business.

Take something small and cheap that is of no consequence to destroy and make it look like something big and expensive to use as a target.

Conversely, make large items appear smaller thereby presenting less of a target to threat systems.

Evaluate the effectiveness of materials to those ends and the antennas used by various systems.

You get the idea...

These are some cool posts, keep em coming!

Edwood7 - Don't post that gear pic on the "Gear Wxxxx" thread, keyboards could be inundated with slobber ;)

Somber - I think you just made 99% of BFC extremely jealous

I'm jealous.....

I worked Tech Services at National Semiconductor and all we had were the Bold Technologies wet benches....

This was as advanced as they got. The PLCs were always losing their minds and I hated working the in HF tank areas. Still have a scar from taking a Spyderco Rookie to an access panel that wouldn't fit. A fresh set of cleanroom gloves holds an amazing amount of blood and keeps the wound exposure to a minimum in a Class 1 cleanroom.....they just don't give you good grip strength.

Dude, don't feel bad. Without guys like you, a lot of people would be idled.

NEVER put yourself down over your job. If you're happy, that's all that matters. :D

I have to say, in this economy, I'm glad to be working. I've been doing it so long though, I don't enjoy it like I use to. Especially in the winter...

I decided a few years back it was time to make a change. Unfortunately, the economy decided to change as well, and the opportunities evaporated.

I've also reached a point in my life where my age isn't exactly a positive.
I'll be 50 this year, and I know that in other fields, with limited experience, the odds aren't good...
Heck, a good friend is 52 and has a Bachelors and a Masters degree, and he is having a hard time finding anything that pays much. I jokingly told him he should go to truck driving school :D

Which National Semi did ya work at, they were customers back in the mid 90s when I was workin' at Submicron/Akrion.

I hated workin' with the chemicals, the boilin' hot h2so4, the HF was a nightmare, I was teachin' chemical safety to all the field service techs so I was always messin' with the stuff.

The most dangerous benches in my mind were the solvent tanks, everthing caused cancer and was extremely flammable and or explosive.

Still I missed the travelin' sometimes, got to see a lotta cool stuff.:D

I do project management, usually internationally. I'll get some pix of our operations in Dubai when I go there in a few weeks.

I run one of these:

I'm also the purchasing agent for the shop.
