Show us your Blade pics!

Yea. I lost 7 inches off my waist since I went full time. Only change, I stopped eating fast food for lunch every day, and I work a physical job. Still drinking my beer just the same. Who knew? Thanks for noticing.

And, at 38 years old, my body decided to grow facial hair. Woo hoo.

I don't know that lady behind us. She didn't speak to me.

FB,

Right there you sort of congeal the whole obesity problem in the US. Sedentary jobs, commuting and no time to eat home cooked stuff.

Good for you!!!!

Yea, I was suprised at how fast my waistline changed just stopping the fast food thing. I still eat it once a week or so, but it was every day. Now its a sandwich and hummus. I also eat a lot of homemade salsa. Hurray. Loose weight and keep drinking.

Sounds like it would be perfect. I don't think it would need to be stabilized for this, I can seal it and the knot could add character. I've never made a wooden one before, I've only used antler, but I'd like to make one that went with this handle better :) I'll pm you

If that piece works for you thats great, if not, let me know. I may have some more dyed blue stabilized Box Elder Burl that would match. Larry

That sounds great thanks!. If you have some that would match now I am interested in talking. Sending a pm as soon as I finish this reply.

I sent you a box with not one but two blocks. If they don't work out, just "pay them forward" and maybe make a fire steel or two for a buddy.

I definitely recommend that you give Larry your business, especially if he's got a close match. He's a great guy with some really great product.

Thanks Kent, really appreciate that. I contacted Larry already after he said he had a close match and have a matching firesteel planned for the Hiking Buddy. But don't worry, what you send won't get wasted, I'm going to be making a few fire steels. I have a plan for something unique with the one...ones you sent, plus I'm going to order some natural and black micarta for a couple of other fire steel projects.

Brian,
I glued these two pieces together with long set black epoxy, and put a small piece of black G10 in the middle. Its dry now...You can take it from here, and happy sanding. (wear a respirator). I sent you a PM. I think it will match that handle pretty good and the black stripe of G-10 will help. Thanks Larry

Larry is good folk, and I've always enjoyed dealing with him.

Larry is awesome to deal with, and so is Kent. I just got the two blocks of natural box elder burl from Kent yesterday. I think I am going to carve a small spoon form one block for my kit. I'm going to need to sew up a small leather pouch and add a fire starting kit and make an entire little bushcraft kit for those days I need to escape other parts of my life.

Just wanted to say Larry is awesome! He sent a small treasure trove of materials to work with for making fire steel handles. Now I just need to order about a dozen blanks :)
