Show us your blades using Homemade MyCarta

Those are badass! I really like the second one; what is it made of?

those are border patol pants the knife is a border patol leaf spring bet you can't guess who ordered the knives the last one is german camo pants
the red white and blue is from a American flag thrown on the ground after the illegals marched in san diego

YES! Please wear a respirator, eye protection and employ good ventilation when sanding anything. OK, maybe you can get by without eye protection if sanding by hand.

I still want to see some mycarta made of old cammies... don't make me do it myself, I have too many irons in the fire as it is :o

Thanks for that warning! Glad I asked, instead of jumping the gun. (I've learned a lot about patience before starting stuff through these forums)

Not sure if this counts, but here it is.

I just received some Todd Combs blue-glow burlap (it glows in the dark!). I inlayed some desert ironwood. It's not finished yet, but it's getting there. This is my first time working with synthetic handle material.

Phillip

Thanks for posting that one. Looks Cool! Can't wait to see the whole set!

Here is a few more that My customers and I have done up

Some glow yarn composite I traded for my website (thanks to Rob aka Centerfinger), that went to Landi to put on knives
Same amounts and types of glow dust in these, only the yarn color has changed:

An army surplus blanket, soaked in epoxy, layered between 1/4" plates covered with wax paper and C-clamped until dry.

Pink craft paper, soaked in epoxy, layered between 1/4" plates covered with wax paper and C-clamped until dry.

Torn green and brown linen textured paper soaked in epoxy, placed in a frame just larger than the 1/4" plates covered with wax paper and C-clamped until dry. This method resulted in too many air pockets that have to be filled in finishing.

After the issues with pin holes, air pocket etc. I started using a vacuum to remove and much air as possible; this allowed for torn and even shreaded blocks without issues.

After all of the experimenting, I know that I can produce a quality product, but the time and expense of making it is not worth me trying to make a phenolic that similar to mass produced colors and textures. I'll just buy those.

But until they make purple and gold for the LSU fans, I'll keep making my own.
