Yay! A blade carrying member of the fraternity again! After I let Raymond go to a new home, I was feeling left out. Not any more!....

Doubled,

Those are both rare and quite valuable Randall Knives. Now that you've posted them, you're likely going to get many requests from collectors looking to purchase them. If you decide that's a route you'd consider, I would strongly suggest you get them appraised before agreeing to sell - I cannot be more clear on this subject.

That said, congrats, your grandfather did you well! Thanks for sharing! :)

Melvin,

I am considering sending the knives to Perry Miller at Spaceport Cutlery for appraisal. I live in SC, but I am in the DC area for a couple of months. Do you know of anyone around these areas for appraisal? I just don't feel comfortable shipping these knives.

Thanks for any help.

Very sexy. Shel, you got all the nice Randalls.
Thanks, I do have a few. :)

Hi, my name is Sheldon Wickersham; friends call me Shel, others call me other things... ;)

With regards to shipping, I've shipped close to 1000 knives, well packed, via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery and Signature Confirmation, and maybe a small insurance amount tacked on (it's nearly impossible to collect on, from what I've heard), without ever losing a parcel or having any problems - as to Perry, he's a friend and a good guy, real solid.

That said, if it was me, I'd get Perry on the phone and hash out the details, including what you want, and his schedule, before shipping anything. He can be reached at perry@spaceportcutlery.com or 321-403-6644. More info on his services can be found here -> http://spaceportcutlery.com/default.aspx?id=39

Good luck :)

Sold, sold, sold...it came out of the safe and sold on eBay a few days later without ever being used. I've got four years left on two nice, two acre lots purchased up here, one on a lake, the other in one of our nicest estates subdivisions - but, I've decided to pay the lots off early to avoid the interest charges, so to that end, I'm selling part of the collection via my website and eBay. Besides, it's time for others to enjoy the knives too... :)

It's a model 20, without a choil. I've never figured out why they weren't all made that way. For a skinner, it makes perfect sense.

Excellent! The top one has the most character in my eyes. Do you still use it?

I have not used it yet but I would not be afraid to use it.

My grandfather worked in a machine shop his whole life and eventually ran the entire shop. He couldn't stand a dull knife and he kept these razor sharp. I still get a laugh when I use his kitchen knives and drill bits. They have been sharpened so much the kitchen knives only have 3/8" of metal left and the drill bits fall out of the box their so short.

I like the hunter the best, but I like the length of the model 1.

Sheldon,
I called and talked to Perry before shipping the knives.
Thanks for the help.

I own two Randall made knives, a #26 and a #1. I bought the #26 from a Randall dealer in Fayetteville NC and I use it for deer skinning and butchering; I have never used the #1 - it was presented to me.

Thank you for your service sir. Nice looking Randall's. I especially like the handle shape on the #26, it looks quite comfortable.

Thank you for your kind words. I do like the handle on the 26 (I like the looks of stag over synthetics) and it does handle well when skinning and cutting up a deer. What I really like about the 26 is the blade shape - it works better for me while skinning than an up swept tip. OH
