Show us your Randalls

Nice set of knives, Don. That's my favorite configuration of a #14. Kydex sheaths look good too. You will be ready for anything with that bottom set. Well done!

I like the look of them. Any scratching/abrasion from the kydex? Who makes them for you?
Thanks,
-Steve

A customer walked into the shop the other day with these (and more). Had to buy them.

I love feel of the border patrol handle on the #14. It fits my hand like glove.

The piggyback setup is my SHTF goto knifes :)

Scratches are unavoidable with kydex sheath. Mine are the same too. There are some hair line scratches here and there. They are fine once you get used to the idea.

The sheaths were made my Eric Lind from Mashedcat Outfitters. He does an excellent job and his customer service is one of the best out there. I will highly recommend him if you are considering getting a custom kydex sheath.

Thanks!
(The only kydex sheath I have works well, and I'm considering another one for another knife, to use in place of its original leather sheath when carrying in wet conditions.)

Too many pretty, unused knives in this thread!!! How about an early '70's era 4-5 in a Johnson Roughback, tight stitch that has seen a lick or two?

Here it is next to my new Treeman knife...

phideaux,
Nice looking blades. They do look good together. I've always liked the wicked sweep of a model 4 and the Scagel type hunters.
The 2-7 I posted comes from the same time frame as your 4. And it's seen some use. The blade has scratches and the brass is etched from spending time in the sheath. The 14 with saw teeth is what I strap on when I'm out in the sticks. My brother in law used it to shave down a hunk of wood to make a walking stick while we were out screwing around in the desert, east of El Paso. A little later I looked at the stick and realized he not only shaved the wood, but he had shaved off the screw that was in the wood.

That looks like Errol Flynn's Randall knife, very similar if not the same model.

The Model 4 as we know it wasn't introduced until shortly after WWII. In his book, Gaddis relates Bo saying that the idea for the Model 4 came from a guy who asked for a WWII Hunter with a more upswept blade that he could use for skinning. This may have been that knife:

Errol's knife was likely either a Model 1 or what was termed a "WWII Commando" knife:

There were some WWII Hunter variants that carried the unmistakable Scagel influence:

Best,

Amazing thread full of beautiful Randalls. Thanks for all the pics, everybody. I could gaze at this thread for hours.
I can't hang with the heavy weight collectors but I try to get a new Randall every once in a while. This is the latest one I traded a friend for.
I put a handle on it, sacrilege I know. haha. But I like using them when I can.

And here's a video I did when I made the handle if anyone's interested.
