Show us your Randalls

Here is a Model 5-7. I bought the knife a couple of months ago and then the search began for a matching sheath. Rare as hen's teeth, I was able to buy the Heiser sheath through a friend. The knife is post WW II, I am told 1946-47.

You are right, as much as I like 60's knives, this one is so rare, that you got to love it.

Finding the knife was a fluke, someone thought it was a much later knife. Then the sheath to match, the whole thing is a story in itself.

Thank you for the kind words.

Rod,

You definitively got lucky on finding a sheath. It appears that the condition of the knife and sheath match. Are there numbers stamped on the sheath?

Tom

I am just in the house for lunch, trying to get yard work done before we get a few days of rain. There is a 7 stamped on the sheath. My pics are on our other computer. Please check back this evening and I will post sheath pics.

Rod,

I'm assuming, back then, Randall used the same sheath for a Model 1 or a Model 5 - as they did later on through the 60s, 70s,...

Tom
Yes same sheath, same as they do today.
Here is a picture of stamping on the front and then one of the stitching on the back.

Rod,

Thanks for the photos. I like that the sheath is only marked with the blade length and doesn't really specify the model. Knife and sheath look like they were made for each other. Very nice addition to your #5 collection!

Thanks for the kind comments. Once my bank balance recovers I have a early 50's 5-8 that needs a sheath.

I wish I had studied bank robbing at university, so I could buy everything I "think" I need.

Nice knife and sheath clk! Both are in outstanding shape, you were lucky to find that sheath, I have an older Model #1 that needs a sheath, seems like common thing to separate the knife from the sheath. Thanks for the pictures!

Final Option

Yes I very fortunate to find a sheath. I am lucky that I have many friends who collect Randall's. If one of us is in need of something particular, usually most of us will know what it is and are on the look out for the individual.
When you say that its "seems like common thing to separate the knife from the sheath", it is my opinion that the sheath get lost or more likely is so old they have fallen into disrepair or totally unusable.
At the Blade Show each year it is very common for people to walk around and ask about a particular Randall they have with them. They want to know price, age, etc. Frequently the sheath they have with the knife is incorrect.
I bought a early 50's Randall with not sheath, so I am the same boat as you. I feel I was lucky to find one old sheath, but finding two would be like winning the lottery.

Here's a couple pics of most recent Randalls.

A Randall #25 I bought a few weeks ago.

It looks good with the #25 Mini

And I just received their #26 cousin this week

From a 2008 order............this was in the mailbox today:D

I picked up the Randall bug in Nov 2012 and I keep coming back for more. This is so addictive.

I like to pair my Randalls with Kydex sheaths. Here are some pictures to share.
