Show us your Randalls

My Thorp might be a good companion piece - a little older, and a little longer.

Good to see someone from the Southern Hemisphere posting and collecting RMK. You have some great looking Randalls.

BTW I think you live in one of the nicest cities in the world.

Thanks bud!
I spent two years in Toronto in my late teens. A fun town but a little to chilly for me………...:p

I have the#7 with leather handle. My wife got it for me after my return home from Nam. The black handles are much better looking now. I never could get my self to carry it. Not worth much since she got my name inscribed on it. It was only around $80-90 it seems in 1969-70 and took 8-10 months compared to 5 years now.

Hey Ron, what a great collection of early Hunters and Model 3's. OUTSTANDING!
Very nice, Rod! Well, we have just a "5" guy posting. I'm just a "3" guy. Here's an old pic of a few from the 40's:

All we need now is a pic from Mike W. who is just a "4" guy :D

Best,

Hello to all members,
Thank you for letting me participate in this forum. My name is Patrick and I am a knife collector. Also I am a Knife Fighting Instructor and because of that I need different types of knives to show my students. Back in 2006 I wrote a book about Knife Fighting. It was a Spanish Manual and as far as I can check it was the first in that language. Now I am working in the translation to english. My first Randall was a model #14 with a Border Patrol handle (1991). Then in 1993 I order a second model #14 with some nice options. After a couple of years, I found that the handle was too large (almost 5" - I ordered that way) and I decided to cut it a couple of cms. I made that modification, loosing the blue/white/red back spacers. In 2008 I was able to visit Randall's Store (for a second time - the first time was in 1999) and they restore the spacers. I also was able to give Gary one of my books.
In 2006 I ordered the knife I thought was perfect for me. A model #1 8" blade with Border Patrol handle, and as a special request, I ask for a skull crusher, like it comes in the standard model. It was the only time they agree with this. Now I only have two Randalls, but I am planing to have more in order to offer them to my customers at the 911 Store & Training Academy, at Hollywood, Fl.

This is a special leather shoulder sheath I made by myself for a #1 8".
Some time between 1994 and 1998 I ask Gary where I could buy a leather shoulder sheath. He gave me Greg Gutcher's (Sullivans) fax and I order one. A model he still makes. The sheath was excellent, but as always, I like to adapt things to my likes, and I began learning how to make leather sheaths.

What it's left in my knife collection. Left to right: Gerber A-F Combat Folder / KDS Tiger (my own design hand made) / F-S 1st Pattern Reproduction (made in Scotland, I specially ask for a black dagger. The maker called it Shadow. 1st Patterns never were made black) / Randall #1 / SOG Recon (or Bowie, an early edition - handle is larger than usual) / Randall #14 / Gerber Silver Trident.

Hi Everyone,my apologies for poor quality pics I have posted above.I'm still learning to use my camera and computer.

The 5-6 has a very dark brown Micarta handle, not black. You have to put it in the sunlight to see it properly.

If you put it next to the #14,you can see the difference very well.

The pics really dont do the knives justice, but this is some of mine.I will try to post more soon.

Hope you enjoy and thankyou for your time.

-Jay

Your stag handle Model 2 is great. Would go very well with my SGTs model. :D

ETA: I also love the lugged and forward curved hilts, very aggressive looking.

Hi Machine26,
These are how I bought them,I had no hand in what they would look like, but I like them anyway.
The lower part of the guard on the 14 has been cut off by about 3/16inch by the former owner. When I asked why,he told me it was "too long"(?)
It has the same shape as it would have been, but still showed very fine file marks. All these have been polished out since photo was taken though.

The lugged guards are nice, and from what I've seen, not that common. All the lugged guards I've seen have mostly been on the big Bowies and toothpicks, not model 2's.
They are a little different to the normal,I think thats why I like them.-Jay

That's cool bud, I don't reckon I've ever seen lugged hilt 2s. I do love collecting, using and talking about Randalls, but I'm not super knowledgable about them.

Here's my 16 again, this time with a bushcrafty dangler with a touch of 25 class. I'm pleased with how it turned out

Well, that doesn't look like a dive knife at all. :D

Very cool! I like it.

My second Randall, this is a #1-7 ss with nickel sliver hilt. I love this knife. Amazing in the hand. I won't use this one, but it makes me sad. My user is a #1-7 ss with leather stacked handles. these are highly functional art.
