Yeah I remember seeing a guy on Discovery or History channel using one of those quite well.In case anyone is unfamiliar with atlatls, they’re an ancient form of ranged weapon that pre-dates the bow & arrow by quite a bit. The first atlatls ever used date back to the Upper Paleolithic era.
They’re very versatile weapons. A skilled Atlatl user can hunt anything from a rabbit to a hog or deer.
And best of all, they can be simple to make. It’s a fun and very quick project for anyone with a knife. All-in-all, I spent about 30 minutes making the atlatl and two spears.
In case anyone here is interested in making one, here’s a short tutorial I found helpful.
Similar devices are still used in Australia, where they are known as "woomeras." Here's a link: woomera.Yeah I remember seeing a guy on Discovery or History channel using one of those quite well.
Your walking stick has really come along nicely. From the last couple days.
Finished the knifework on this walking stick. Made two of the four spirals thicker than the other two, I think it looks nice. I still have to sand and oil this stick.

It started raining, but the fire was big enough to be self-sufficient by then.

Found this little guy inching around on my arm, ended up placing him on a nice leaf.
