Post up pictures of your high carbon steel knives that have patina that have either been legitimately acquired through use, or forced using a variety of methods, or accidental through neglect, or temporarily lost in your vegetable garden. There will be no actual prize, but through a simple count of a thumbs up or thumbs down, one member will be recognized each week as having the best patina.

Weekly winners will be announced each Sunday morning. Don't forget, just post a thumbs up or a thumbs down for each posted knife, or not. 2 or 3 thumbs for exceptional examples permitted.;)

OK, I'll start....here's a Case that has a nice patina posted by a member, augustus88. I give it a

Here's a forced patina with what I call a rip off hamon ;-))) Toilet paper soaked in wine vinegar then rip the edge off the paper to leave the bright "hamon" .

Happy Sunday folks.

Best regards

Here's one I did on one of my bushies. Not my favorite patina but one of my favorite knives so it gets posted 1st.

Robin, you are right about the edge - wicked sharp and quick too! Al, The knife is in great shape for it's age, good snap, no wobble, and most of it's steel intact. I'm glad to be the current caretaker. This will be a cool thread showcasing knives of character; I look forward to seeing what gets shown. OH

I am very curious about forced petinas .... Here is my natural one. This is my oldest and first knife. Got it back in '76. Spent 20 years in a metal tool box. Scotch brite and some turtle wax products, got it into working order....Love it!
