show your trio

Hi all,
My trio is my S&N 17", axe, my scandi woodcraft knife, and my leather man wave muliti tool.

My axe does the main cutting and chopping of firewood, pounds the sticks that I use to tie off my shelter, and I got to say just makes me feel better when out in the woods:D

My scandi woodcraft knife does the food prep and wood carving, fuzz sticks,
traps and there triggers. and bow drill parts, string cutting and I got to say just makes me better when woods bumming:D

My leather man aids in sewing and in traps and the making of them, spears and getting points for them from the local locust trees :eek:and for grabbing things that are hot plus so many other things that a pairs of pliers comes in handy for. I got to say just make me feel better when out loafing in the timber:D

There are some really cool looking trios being carried by you guys out there. From what I have seen so far if you added a steel cup/pot, cord, fire steel and a poncho any one of you guys would be able to make a good go of it, if you had to spend the night out in the woods.

Take care all,
Bryan

It's not a great pic,but it's a great trio.

Is that a metric trio?

(trio
/tree"oh/, n., pl. trios.
1. any group of three persons or things.
2. a musical composition for three voices or instruments.
3. a company of three singers or players.
4. the middle section of a minuet, scherzo, or march.

The axe or golok depending on where I am going, or maybe both. The golok photo is about 6 months old, she doesn't look so pretty anymore, but whata chopper!!

I guess trios are based on the Nessmuck 3?

My money is on the Doc 4 - chopper, small/medium FB, small folder and multitool (posted recently in another thread :o)

Doc,

I like the Doc 4! I don't actually have a dedicated trio (hence no post), I carry a series of knives (in rotation) depending on the season...

I saw that Machax at the top right, what is the folder in the lower left?

If I had to be limited to a trio, it'd be these for camping:

(maybe swap out the Wave for the OHT, but if I'm camping, I like having the pliers)

And these for hiking:

But I'm with Doc, usually I have these four with me (Bravo-1 and OHT on belt, Izula on pack strap, and Leatherman Wave in pack)

Thinking about replacing the Wave with a SwissTool at some point down the line....

ETA: I don't really harvest wood or build shelters very often, if I lived in an area in which I needed to or was allowed to, I might replace the khuk with a good hatchet/axe or folding saw. I can't say I really have need for a khuk now with the activities I do, but I just wanted a large chopper knife. :D

Hey mn, the folder is my favourite EDC folder - Buck Alpha Dorado - It's sheeple friendly and pretty stout for its size. As I did with the Bravo 1, I liked it so much, I had to get another (1 in 420HC and 1 in 154CM)

I don't have a Swiss Tool but do yourself a favour and check out the Victorinox Swiss Spirit - I love it.

If you have a good back, an axe is an awesome tool. In my case - bad back -big chopper (can't use an axe).

Ah, that's the one, Swiss Spirit; I thought they were different "SwissTool" models, didn't realize one is the SwissTool and one is the Swiss Spirit. Thanks Doc  And I used to have a good back, but I've been slacking on core strengthening recently. Thanks for the heads up, when I do try out an axe one day, I'll make sure my back is good enough for it first.

Hey rk,

I think there are 3 Swiss Tools (my favourite would be Model X) and 1 Swiss Spirit. They are all made by Victorinox. The Swiss Spirit is the lightest of the 4 and is finished much nicer in my opinion. However, the only blade it has is a combo blade (mostly serrated). This is fine for me because I EDC a couple of other knives anyway, so I don't need one on my multitool.

It's a great multitool - I use it everyday at work.

G'day Doc

Personally, I arrived at the combination of a hatchet, fixed blade & folder a couple of decades before I had even heard of Nessmuck and his trinity :D

Kind regards
Mick

Of that, Mick, I have no doubt. :D

I don't even know what combination(s) I started out with, but somewhere along the line I went from Buck FB's and an Estwing hatchet, to a Mora and a machete, and now to the 'Doc 4' shown above.

However, I would still not feel short changed if I all I had was a Buck and a hatchet. I think Rescue Riley framed it rather well a short bit ago - 'Wits, not kits."

Cheers, Mick.

Thanks again DOC. As you can see, I haven't done my research yet:o. I just keep hearing good things about them, so it's been on my list of "things to look into". The Leatherman Skeletool has also intrigued me for the lighter weight, especially since I don't use my wave on a regular basis in my line of work.

Sorry, I'll stop hijacking the thread! Continue :)

Hi all,

Stormstaff Yes Missy the Feret licked up all her treat there in the blue container and then smelled the bait on the stick that I put on it and she tripped the trigger:thumbup:.
