I know we all like to regard our knives as works of art, but some of 'em are just darn ugly! Whether they were designed that way, or whether they've reached their current point of ugliness through constant use, I bet some of us have some dog-ugly blades...:D

So, what are they? What makes 'em ugly? Pictures are encouraged...

by the end of the testing, this machete was looking pretty ugly

ctgathering2037.jpg

the handle was missing, replaced by a dirty cord wrap. the spine looked like a knapped stone blade from being hit with a hammer so many times. the blade was caked with bark and tree sap. the edge was dinged from hammering through a bolt and hitting rocks and things...

after some time in my spa it came out looking as fresh as daisies though! i'm excited to see how much Joe dirtied it up again...

Any non-alox SAK will qualify ;) A special prize should go to the mora2000 sheath!

Couldn't tell you what or who, it was a gift when I was kid
Blade is stamped Stainless Japan very small wherethe blade meets the handle. On the other side in big letters - SPECIAL HUNTERS . I've beat the heck out of this knife growing up. It iseasy to resharpen & is hair shaving sharp now !

Cold Steel Master Hunter. This was by my side for years and years through thick and thin all over the world, back when I was out in the field 11 months of the year...

A lot of people hate Cold Steel, but I can't say a bad thing about this knife, it's really treated me well over the years.

Rob, I can't say a bad thing about that knife either. I field dressed my first deer with one. A great blade in Carbon V.

I like em too. Im not into the whole "knife politics" crap anyways. I buy what I like, and use what I buy.

I love seein that blade, it looks awesome! So well loved.:thumbup:

This thread rocks, I LOVE seeing well used blade. That master hunter looks awesome, man!

Right now it's probably my kabar bowie or fiskars hatchet. Those things see some rough times. I'd say my mora 510 is next, but it's not really ugly. Just full of 'character'. :D

As soon as I get some time I'm gonna ugly up this brian andrews, it's too damn pretty right now!!!

If my MOD 4 hadn't been stolen 15 years ago, I'd be posting pics now. :-/

The thing was ugly straight out of the box!

Majority of these knives aren't ugly, they are just well used and thus liked!

My vote for ugliest knife goes to a pattern (I don't own one because they REPEL me!)from Traditional pocket knives, the Sunfish or Elephant Toe-Nail, hideous, impractical and dinosaur-like...

Mod 4's are not ugly !!!

Only when they have a hideous reflection in them..... bbbbrrrrrrrrrr... that sent chills down my spine, pit. I'm getting flashbacks of the original "The Hills Have Eyes" flic.

:D I'm right there with ya. I don't understand that patern either. The fact that modern makers put such an ugly blade shape on 'em makes it even worse. They don't even put a belly on them. Its like a quasi-tanto-spear point shape that is horrible. Ugly any way you look at 'em.

This one is my ugliest knife:
