That time of year again. Hammer inn. Come one come all. We will be making Damascus, forging knifes, grinding, knife construction and all kinds of things related to knifemaking. Will be serving lunch Saturday and something to munch on Sunday. For those who have never come, I have a 26 ton press from Uncle Al, a 85 pound power hammer an anvil and a forge. I have an 800 sq. ft. shop with an overhang attached with the forging equipment on an acre of land. Tons of parking space across the st. in an open lot. Lots of tools in the shop. Surface grinder, kiln, two belt grinders (2x72) mill, lathe, and a bunch of other stuff. No charge but donations for my gas and food would be appreciated. From novice to pro all are truly welcome and promises to be a good time. My address is 4887 Dixie Garden Loop, Shreveport, La 71105. Phone 318-865-8166. Here are a few shots of my shop and equipment.

ALL WELCOME.

I'll come if I can. I'll confirm when it gets a little closer to the date. Would anybody mind if I brought my teen-aged son? Might do him some good to drag him away from the computer for a couple of days.

You are welcome to bring your son. He will have a good time to and I will put a piece of hot steel welded to a long handle in his hand and let him beat the heck out of it with the power hammer.

Looking forward Dan - thank you for the invite!!

SouthernComfort, I think we are talking about Oct 12th and 13th (sat/sun according to this calendar). We'll get it pinned down eventually.;)

That's what I meant Andy. ;) Damn, I was looking at Sept., not enough Java circulating this morning to get all those synapse's firing.

Jason, really hope you can make it. Should be a nice one and I am sure there are folks coming who would like to see you.

Not quite locked in yet but as of now I'm planning to be there. This will be my first hammer-in. Anything I need to know ahead of time? Do you have any recommendations for affordable (read "cheap") places to stay in the area?

There are places that are buy the freeway (I20) that are reasonable. Best Western is one. Look on some that are on Airline drive, Benton Rd. Here is a link that will give you some Ieas. I am just a couple of miles from the Freeway and very close to the river . In this link is a map of Shreveport and Bossier. I think you should be able to find one to your liking. Bring grubby clothes and safety googles with some gloves. Look forward to meeting you. Johnny, starts around 9:00.

Wow sounds like a great time let me talk to wife snd i will let u know for sure. Thanks for the open invite. I would love to see how it is made in person..

Lets all hope TS Karen doesn't cause any problems with the hammer-in!!

No worries Stacy. The current track has her aiming at you guys (Norfolks?) more than us. Should be watering all the Peach Streets in Atlanta by the 7th or so.

Besides, Dan is essentially waterproof and floats really well. Oh - and we still need the rain.:D

Hey Johnny! Good to hear and looking forward to seeing you again. Please bring your older favorite matched Alaska set, sure would like to talk some more about those knives.
