SHTF rifle prerequisites

YOU envision badguys with military training lying in wait ready to spring a crisply executed ambush. Ok, that's you. You must live in one tough neighborhood.

Me, I envision a rag-tag group of looters looking for 'freebies' making no secret about their presence.

In THAT case, to keep them from storming my house or coming down my street, I will stick to a battle rifle with high capacity.

I agree.
I've been through several riots and hurricanes in South Florida and was running a security business at the time.
Never ran into any trained or skilled gunman.
Just opportunists and very stupid scumbags.Most are looking for easy pickings.
Someone with a Mforgery who knows how to use it,is not it.
Looking like you WILL use it and not a boyscout or accountant helps too.
Criminals are predators,they prey on the weak and avoid larger more dangerous predators.
Those are the laws of the jungle.
Fighting trained military or insurgents is a different story.

Just look at the famous Korean store owners in the LA riots.
Every business burned down or looted but theirs.
If you want to see the effectiveness of rifle fire against pistols and shotguns you can look to the Miami FBI shootout or the LA bank Robbery.

I remember the riots. I was living in LA whent they happened. I was 10 years old. You are correct, I remember the korean store down the streets owners were posted up on the roof with rifles. They didnt get looted or robbed.:thumbup:

Several of them carried this same philosaphy, and came out smellin clean. That was another good lesson in preperation, most of the residents didnt go out for a bit, and nobody knew when it would be safe too, so you really got to look at how long you could stay in with given supplies.

My father drove to work with a 9mm on him, and had an AK at the house ready to rock.
