Sick of hearing the ESEE 5 is overkill.

I love the 5s shape, but wish it was 1/8". I havent found anything I need done in the woods that 1/8" cant handle.

Glad you like it. It has the cutting geometry of a block of Velveeta, in my opinion.

This is why I made this thread...stupid crap like this. My 5 is sharp as f*ck! It can cut anthing a knife is used to cut. Period. Can a thin blade jap kitchen knife cut micro thin slices of cucumber better? Maybe. ..who gives a shit..?

That's kind of why the BK-10 was made. (changed the #)

KansanShooter, the cons just make the thread interesting. Glad you like your blade. I wouldn't mind owning one, but I know it would not be used just like my BK-2.

IBTL! The 5 is overkill for most people. If it is for you, great. you're the exception. The 5 would work the best of any knife at it's intended use, a "downed pilots survival knife".

my "survival situations" (usually a 3 day camping trip) involves fishing and eating what i catch, so would i want a 5 as my do-it-all knife? probably not, id sooner clean a stringer of crappie and largemouth bass with a filet knife or something slimmer than 1/4"

Like what you like. That's fine. But there's no need to downtalk other people that don't have the same taste as you. Many of them are very experienced and have intelligent reasons for their preferences. :)

My first fixed blade was an EK Comando bowie knife. I thought I went to heaven. Then, well, I decided it wasn't really what I like to use as my woods knife. It is fun however and that's what's important.

I think he could have done a lot worse with his first FB, but to tell us you're dumb not to like it.....

42 summed it up well.

The OP can have my man card. I am glad that you like your new knife. I'll stick with my Mora and my Axe. Works for me even if it's not a man's knife :D
