Sick of hearing the ESEE 5 is overkill.

Ahhh it's all clear now. :D

Looks like salmon to me.

Lol...im not talking down to anyone. You internet know it all's crack me up.

I don't know everything but I do know the E5 is way too thick and heavy to be a general purpose, practical knife. It was specifically intended to chisel through an airplane's plexiglass and fusela...just kidding. If you like it, great. I would strip it and put a patina on it though.

To me,its not how thick a knife is that qualifies for a man card revocation, its if it has a Busse stamp on it. If it does, you lose it forever....

If anyone is wondering what "the gathering" is, it is a Becker thing at Ethan Becker's farm in May.

The kid is for real. He's a Beckerhead and I don't qualify.

You qualify more than most! You were the most influential person when it came to ordering my first Becker, a BK9. I've never sold a Becker to someone. You should try again!

OP: ESEE makes a great blade and Jeff is a class act! He personally gave me his IZULA! The 5 is an acquired taste. I'm glad you like yours!

Nice knife...heavy & overkill comparatively (IMO).

OP, YOUR "man card " post made me smile....made me think of the story of the old and young bulls on top of the hill.:)

I know! Just nudging a little snark back! Are you going to be there?

I really wish I could but I'm too poor and I'm gonna have to wait till the kids get a little bigger. I would feel pretty bad leaving my wife with our little rascals (6,5,2) for a weekend by herself.

Thanks. But so many recommend the BK-9, that I doubt I made any difference what so ever. As far as Beckhead status, it's more of an irritation to me than something I actually care about.

You're right about the ESEE 5. It is an acquired taste in knives just like the BK-2. I probably never gave the BK-2 a real chance to impress me other than... "wow, now that's a knife". You have to learn how to yield a larger blade to use it effectively and it is not a natural thing unless you just have huge paws and are 6'5".

Did I read that right? 22-rimfire believes that Beckerhead status more than an irritation than something he cares about! "Oh, the humanity." :)
