How would these rate next to a Florian 'Root Saw'? I thought of getting one of those lately, but then this thread popped up.
I'm thinking about picking up the Gomboy 300 (the largest one), does anyone have first hand experience?
No Norcal, I was thinking that it would be good on downed seasoned wood I found out in the bush. Burns better than the green stuff....But is tougher on the saw IME, or maybe the saw user GRIN! Florian makes some decent stuff for the commercial and home trades.
I've mentioned Silky on a couple occasions on the forums. I carry a Pocketboy in my pack and Gomboys/Woodboys are always in my tool bags. The best damn folding saws hands down. I use them outdoors and I use them daily as a carpenter.
I'm definitely interested in these bad boys. I've been spinning my wheels over what to outfit my upcoming new car with for wilderness travel, particularly in the saw department. I'd thought a bow saw was the way to go, but I really like the looks of these better. I'll probably end up getting 2 - one larger for in-car carry and heavier, camp use and 1 smaller for backpacking.
Sweetness. It's actually a load off my mind to know this. Thanks, Norcalblacktail![]()
]These saws really floored me in a way no piece of gear has in ages and ages. I thought I'd seen and experienced it all when it came to gear. Not so when it comes to this bad boy. Truly above and beyond amazing.

Haha, yep, I'm sold. I've just not yet purchasedOut of curiosity, which saw would you recommend for heavy use? For a 'packin' saw, I'm liking the Pocket Boy 170. For a heavy-use saw, though, I'm uncertain what I want. Some of their saws have curved blades, others straight. I definitely prefer a fixed blade, but I don't know which way to go beyond that, yet

Thanks for the link, Brian. The curved blade saw is one of the styles I was wondering about
