Productive day had here. I actually got to have a conversation with a "knife guy"!!! I convinced the wife to take a trip with me to SRKnives. They are a BF supporter and the only "premium" knife dealer in southern Ontario. They are located about 40 in away in a mall with a huge kids play section. I told the wife to leave me be to talk and come get me when she is ready to go. I was on a mission to find my brother in law a folder that was not a piece of crap. His criteria made it almost impossible (he likes partial serrations). I has a great conversation with the manager and he ended up giving me the BF member tax free discount (which is amazing because we pay 14% hst). Even better was I was able to check out potential knives I wanted in hand. I was able to take a whole bunch off my want list because I didn't like the way they felt in hand. Another problem is I know realize that there are a few that I didn't like based on looks but are amazing in the hand (like Striders). All in all awesome trip!

CRKT M16 <--- Knife you're looking for for your brother in law.

Came home early today. Thinking about heading to the cabin this weekend.

Thought you guys might appreciate this...... as most of you know. Murph is here a lot. He spends a lot of time sitting at the saw cutting out blanks for me. During this time I'm trying to get other knife making duties done. Well, Murph likes to be chatty, and usually talks as he cuts. I think I just figured out a way to increase production. I permanently stuck my most common response to his drivel right there on the saw where he can see it. Man I'm brilliant! Now I dont even have to listen to his bullshit and he can just work  :D SNARK!

Dubs thats a nice price on that BOB for still being in such good shape. I cant afford it but it should sell pretty quick id think.

OK back from the VA but still cant figure out why the belt is rubbing in the grinder..

SO i made this video, can any of you with experience tell me if this is a defect, something i need to adjust, or what?? Thanks for any help.

No experience here with that grinder or that issue, but I wonder if you could just run it and let it grind away the problem?

Or maybe take off the guard? Some folks seem to do that as part of the overall modding process.

I thought the same thing.. Tried running it, but it bogged down and wouldnt spin. It runs fine without the belt on though LOL

Now i could very well just bend the casing a little.... And i think that would fix the issue... Im just not sure if that would be a bad move or not.

Have you tried calling Sears? I wonder how quickly they could get you a new one...though I bet they can't get it there in time to grind tonight and I suspect that's when you want to.

Looks like several other folks have run into that problem with some thicker belts and they just cut off the bottom part of the guard. Sent you a pm.

Man forum... I keep trying to post this and it keeps screwing up.

Got your PM DunkEm, tried replying and it i got the website can not be displayed page... But yea i have seen the same thing. I googled it as well a bit earlier. I just dont have an angle grinder, i guess i could take a hack saw to it, but first ill let James or Todd chime in.

I was able to pry the thing back enough to get it to go through. but.....

So should i take it to sears for a refund and order a new one? Or make this one work?? It seems issues are not all that uncommon for this 2x42, and for the price i cant really complain. I just want it to work like it should, at least work the way it works for others.

WW, that is definitely not right. Mine has all kinds of clearance.

I didn't see any way to adjust that either. Cutting it off won't hurt a thing, neither would bending it. I'm going to cut mine off when I get around to it.

Here are a couple of things that will improve the performance that will cost you a couple of bucks.

JB Weld a 2x4 piece of cerramic tile (a buck at HD) for a ceramic platen. Smooths it out and cuts down on the friction.

Replace the set screw tracking adjustment with a bolt and knob arrangement.

Um, Todd. It's supposed to be "you're" as in you are. Your is possessive, like "I lit your truck on fire because I got sick of listening to your bullshit." Lol. Brilliant might not be the most accurate term. :p

WW The one I bought had the same failure, and I returned it. Its not normal. It sounded like a jet taking off when it ran and had that craptastic tracking problem also.

I really like that knob to adjust the tracking!! And i will for sure add a ceramic platen soon!

Does your belt bounce around like in the 2nd video?

I have no problems making this one work if its acting normal. Im just not sure what normal is LMAO

I just watched your second video Woody. I'd take that one back.

Well that settles it.

Ill be wiping this one down and boxing it up. Sucks they dont have them in stock for more than 50 miles but i dont want to be stuck with a dud.

Thanks guys

Had a day that started out bad, but ended up pretty good. Woke up with the makings of a migraine. Pretty common, puked my guts out, caught it early enough to stop it. THEN gotbthe kids ready and went to jantz supply to cash in my previous gladius work. Picked up enough to get my initial designs rolling and try out some different material. Also picked up a green river sheep Skinner blank to practice handles on. Kids were not well behaved in jantz but the ladies who work there are really awesome and super nice. Even cut up some stock for me to meet the size I wanted in my budget. 10 stars for them today.
