According to what I've heard, you should finally be getting your THK chef's knife soon. Sorry it's taken so long... passarounds always take at least twice as long as one plans for. Thanks again for your encouragement and patience, brother.

I've been using Chrome consistently and get the problems. Seems like they aren't quite as consistent as they were just a little while ago, but they are still around.

I use FF, and have the problem consistently here. Have no issues at all on other forums.

In on seven, for the victims now in heaven.

Have a Blessed Patriots Day!

One post too late, I better make it 8.

Just cleared out my cache and cookies. That seems to have helped.

EDIT: Or not, just did it again.

Geeze, I go to bed for 10 hours and there's three new pages. And I can see some of you refuse to assimilate so I guess that means I'll have to call out page numbers again like the last thread.

In on four because my posts-per-page settings are correct. (I've given up rhyming them)

Rhyming is for those limies!

It's not you, it's the forum. This jalopy is running like it has 4/6 cylinders firing and someone's pouring more sugar in the gas tank.

I'm sure Spark will get around to dealing with that sooner or later.

Hopefully sooner than later. Love this place, but it does get annoying. Guess I shouldn't complain, it has worked well for the biggest part.

Really seems like we need to come up with four more posts to round out to 150 for the first day of this one.

Or maybe just three now. :)

"Carbon" or "stainless" don't really matter. But yes, run your dill at slow RPMs when cutting steel, feed it into your stock fairly aggressively, and back out often to clear chips. Use plenty cutting fluid... there's no such thing as too much as "too much".

You're embarking on a long, fascinating, and potentially tremendously-dangerous journey, WW. It's not as easy as it looks. The more you learn, the more questions you'll have, and the more you will want to learn.

Don't let that spook ya. Just keep studying and asking questions. I'm reasonable certain that Todd and Daizee will point you in the right direction :p

Thanks James.

Ill try and be safe, and im very certain its harder than it looks, and it doesn't look too easy at that.... But i dont spook too easy. I was born with a hard head... And from what i have seen/read a hard head is almost a requirement for knife making :p snark.

I am grateful to all of you guys for all the help and encouragement. Honestly. It does mean a lot. It would be much easier for knife makers not to help other people wanting to get into knife making. After all for each person who starts making their own knives is likely one less customer in the long run.. But here people dont seem to think that way. The majority of you guys do everything you can to get us on the right track safely and cost efficiently. Goes to show some people still care more about the love of the hobby and helping others than the money in their pocket. Thats a great thing in my opinion.

"You're embarking on a long, fascinating, and potentially tremendously-dangerous journey" I wish i still owned a wood burner, imma have to get another one. Or have it printed out and framed. I want to hang that right down in my basement!! Look at it every day before i turn the grinder on. Encouraging yet will serve as a reminder to go slow and be safe.

Hey worldwood,

If you start getting a feeling that making knives is not as wondrous as you imagined, make sure you ask JT where the magic is.

Congrats on the Yuma, Warrior. Todd makes some fantastic knives.

Sweet picture Dubs... But i would NOT of been sitting on that rock...

I would of stayed several feet to the right of the trees unless i had one hell of a harness tied off.

Im not deathly afraid of heights, but im not thrilled about them either.

I seen a bunch of pictures of different people camping on the side of a rock wall hanging from ropes...Yea.. Unless my choices were that or DIE, it would never happen LOL

I'm right there with you man! I don't mind glass elevators or even roller coasters but standing on the edge of a cliff or building or anything too high and I'm uncomfortable. More often than not I'll do it but not really very happy about it.

And I didn't know your first name was the same as mine til tonight.

Warrior - I'm so impressed with that knife and the maker! I got a Magua at Blade Show and plan on getting a Yuma next. I just gotta get my S together and start putting money in my knife account again.

I will indeed ask him, but i got the feeling thats one trade secret he wants to keep :D

Yea man,

I can do roller coasters with no problems. Only thing im afraid of when it comes to roller coasters are the long lines LOL... Well there may be a few roller coasters with huge drops id pass on too.

However, any rides that you just free fall straight down on, or just drop hanging from a rope.. Is a no go!!

For instance...

Yea id pass on those... QUICK. Wouldnt even pretend to wanna do it.

I went on something similar to this when i was a teenager and hated every second of it...

Richard is a pretty common name, i wouldnt be surprised if there were another 3 of 4 beckerheads named Richard LOL

My first name is so common i made sure both my kids had pretty uncommon names. Luckily my last name is VERY uncommon in the US as its Greek.

My daughter i named after a little girl i was close to when i was in my later teens. They called me her godfather back then. She has sickle cell and was sick a lot when she was little but was a delightful little girl. I havent talked to her in several years but last i heard she was doing pretty good. Her name, and my daughters name, is T'liyah. Pronounced ta-lia

My son i named Antaeus. After the son of Poseidon in greek mythology. I have a tattoo of Poseidon on my arm and always loved the water and reading about greek mythology. Must be from my ancestors LOL

But the chances of either one of my kids ever being in a room with someone with the same name will be slim to none. I remember when i was in elementary school we had a class of 20-25 kids... 3 people were named Richard in the class .. So they wanted to call me Rick or Richie, i wasnt having that though and just didnt respond at all to it. They ended up calling me Richard and the other 2 got the shortened versions or nicknames.

There's no such thing as magic. There are no "secrets" either. Making knives is nothing but research, finding good materials, endless testing, continual attention to detail and hard work. Just trying to make the next one better than the last one. Simple as dirt.

I was born with a hard head... And from what i have seen/read a hard head is almost a requirement for knife making ...

That's probably true. I suppose it does take a certain amount of bawls/ovaries/stubborness to stick with this kind of madness. We're not in it for the glory, fame or money, that's a fact...

It would be much easier for knife makers not to help other people wanting to get into knife making. After all for each person who starts making their own knives is likely one less customer in the long run.. But here people dont seem to think that way.

I've been involved in a fair amount of skill-specific, labor-intensive and often secretive endeavors. Knifemaking by far stands above and beyond all others when it comes to established/respected guys actually going out of their way to pass on what they know. I'm not gonna "drop names"... but take my word, some of the very best makers and designers on the planet have helped me a great deal, and every one of them has adamantly encouraged me to to pay it forward.

I'll bet you my last nickel that other makers/Beckerheads have had similar mentoring. Those cats ain't scared of anyone "stealing" their ideas; they've found their own way. I can't explain it exactly, that's just how it is.

Thanks man. He sure does.

It's an awesome blade. Todd has mad skizzles.
