Never said I was down for that... But I hear if you wear rubber boots a size too big, and put the sheep's feet in with yours...

just learning the trade, and having useful tools to move nasty things.

it can also be used with a chain to move pipe and crap like that with ease (even as a trailer dolly?. yar - just need to attach a 2 inch ball to the front...)

i would like an actual tractor, and probably owning some land up North as a wood lot, to harvest from, clear, etc as a "retirement hobby"... though i understand the way to do it is getting hired out to clear someone else's land for a cut of the take. look up "wood buncher" sometime for a scary machine :D

Holly crap, this is one of the coolest looking machines i ever seen.

The amount of trouble i could get into with that is endless :D

Oh... And i need some land cleared... Your welcome to all the trees you removes out the way for me :D

Of course its not going to be worth your time though because its way down in Florida and i only want a quarter acre of my land cleared for the homesite, and they will mostly just be small pines and small blackjack oaks. The bigger ones will stay put. I wanna keep every good tree i can.

Well, theres your first problem. Putting threads on something cant be done by eyeballing it. The shaft your threading will have to be a certain size. There is a little bit of play but it will effect the thread depth. I suggest not going under 77% thread depth so you don't sacrifice any kind of structural integrity............ go to your hardware store. Pick up whats called a decimal equivalent chart. If you get a good one it will give you all of the sizes you will need for correct threading for any thread size. As far as the dies. Any high speed steel dies should last you a lifetime. Just be sure to have the die holder as well, it will help you start the die straight, which is important.

Sorry if I dorked out on you there. I've worked with this stuff my whole adult life.

nothing to be sorry about, this is exactly the kind of instructions I need! thanks a lot man.

Went to a red neck flea market with a couple neighbors today. Found an old Carborundum Slip stone, a brick of .22 shorts, and a replacement stock and forend for my Wingmaster. I was surprised at all the cast iron they had. Lots of Griswold and Wagner, but I didn't buy any of them. Anyone know if it is safe to use cast iron on a flat top electric stove?

Saw a few Beckers, both Kabar and Camillus, but they were too expensive for me to jump on them.

It depends on the stove and the cast iron pan/pot. If you are talking about one of those glass top stoves, then it will depend on the pan. Look on the bottom of the pan. If there is a stand-off rim, like in this shot, it won't work on the stove. The rim keeps 99% of the pan off the stove and heat won't transfer properly.

If the pan is flat bottomed with no rim, then the question is - "How flat is the bottom?" Sometimes even a cast iron pan will warp if overheated. Again if the bottom of the pan doesn't touch the glass surface well, no heat transfer.

Had a couple SNBC Flipsides (seasonal Red IPA) first, also yummy. Murph: get you some of this Redhook. It's packed with most excellent beer flavor. Pumpkin and maple syrup, done extremely well. Not nearly as sweet as the ingredient list might suggest. The best pumpkin beer ever. IMO, of course.

Its like Christmas around here for me today. (Come to think about it, better than Christmas, considering I usually get get squat ) Anyway, my new tent I bought off of Dubz got here. All ready set it up and checkin it out. Its just what I was after. No pics yet. Getting ready to head out to football game.
On top of that, as you guys know ive been in the process of moving my shop. Im building a small office and ive been looking for a good metal sturdy office desk. Lookin for one of the built right old ones on the cheap. Low and behold, out of the blue, my mother in law pulls up in the driveway with one in fantastic shape just like I was lookin for in the back of her truck. Said she found it at a yard sale for $20. bucks and thought of me. I gladly reached into to my pocket to pay her for it and she said. "No charge, my gift to you" pretty cool man. Couldnt be happier.

I got an old metal desk with drawers from a buddy. We moved it into my apartment in pieces and just left it when I moved out. Sumbitch was heavy.

Was walking past our local candy shop and I noticed that the gal had brought in some crisps from the UK. Thought I'd pick up a few bags and reminisce about my time living in the UK.

And I though Lays had some weird flavors. Or flavours in this case. :D

In other news, I just got back from my sons very first football game. I was a little nervous wondering how he would do. He's very athletic but doesn't have a mean bone in his body. After about 4 plays he made a great tackle. It was like someone turned on a switch and he got it. Because he became a animal after that. I think once he figured out he wasn't gonna get in trouble for hitting someone it was game on . Lol. Aside from probably a dozen tackles he sacked the quarteback twice one time so hard he lost the ball, we recovered and scored. We won the game 21 to 0. It was awesome, I am so proud. After the game the coach called him the ice man! Lol.

That's cool. Don't forget us when he goes pro and buys you a new house.

This guys rat tail is a bit twisted too :D

You know that guys mom is proud of him

If he was my son I'd laugh and then say "OK now shave that thing off."

Just host a gathering there. The place will be cleared in an hour and there'll be a cabin and a huge roaring fire.

Thanks for the information, zz. I am just concerned about damaging the stove top. I will be sure to check the bottom of the pan before making any purchases.

I'm going to be keeping my eyes open for that stuff, Mike.

If he was my son id laugh as well, then shave it off myself in his sleep if i had to.

Gathering huh?

Well there would be no running water or shelter of any sorts before the land was cleared. Just woods. But i guess thats all we would need.... Its only 4 miles to a gas station and little country store. Or 5 miles to a small grocery store, dollar store, and a few restaurants. All i need for the most part.

Free land clearing huh?? OK im in. Lets say next year Aug 21-23 or Sept 11-13th. Its in Florida, so thats quite a ways from Colorado LOL Just hit me up for the coordinates :D

Since cast iron cookware is usually heavier than regular stuff, you do have to be careful when putting it down on the glass surface. Just since it is heavier and therefore easier to set down too hard and crack the surface. Just be careful putting it down.

finally finished my homework for english, its my first AP course and its definitely challenging but i'm really enjoying it

Well, I'm not sure how you camp, I usually don't camp with running water, and I bring my own shelter. I have a nice hammock (no snakes on me, mate!) When at Ethan's we have a giant water bucket (55? gal), and that is the "running water" that we have.

Yea man i normally camp with a bottle of whiskey and thats my water!! Normally take Pepsi as well, but im really cutting back on that... Had 1 glass of it today!! But i have had quite a bit of sweet tea in its place.

But with a group of people you never know what some people will feel is necessary. There would be room for plenty of hammocks and tents thats for sure. Plenty of trees that need to be cut, and fires and such would be no problem.

But i was messing around. I dont expect anyone to come clear my property LMAO.... Well actually..... i DO expect my father to bring a backhoe and help me out LOL

Only going to be clearing 1/4th of an acre close to the middle, maybe a little more towards the back depending on the lay of the trees, and making a drive way up to the homesite. Should be easy enough. The giedymin knife will be a sweet "machete" for taking out some of the brush and smaller to mid sized pines that will be in the way.

This is from the dirt road. Pretty densely wooded. I have no intentions of clearing any of the brush or small trees you see up front except where the driveway will be. I love the natural look of it.

I got 165 feet roadside, and 330 feet going back. But its on a 20 acre block of woods that no one else lives on. 1 block north of my property is over a thousand acres of state forest land as well.
