In the sunlight 1/2 of the handle is black and the Micarta is barely visible. The other 1/2 is SUPER dark, burgundy wine color and the Micarta is barely visible it actually looks like a Blem in the Phenolic. Indoor lighting it looks and feels like Black Phenolic...

One side does have a touch of lighter grain. With D2 this is a user for me. Fit and finish where the tang meets the guard is way better now. These are all centered.

Mine is nowhere near that light of a color...

I know these are brand new knives for you guys but what if the handles were lightly sanded? Could it be whatever they treated the micarta with that turned it that dark, therefore a light sand might lighten it up a bit.

If this is a stupid idea it's ok, to tell me.

I’ve gotten stag handles that were not at all what was represented in the sales pictures. So I feel your pain guys, but they are still really nice knives.

I hope you guys use the heck out of them. I want to see some patina pictures.

I’m looking forward to the 301 stockman skblades has on the list, cpm154 blades and ns bolsters, jigged bone handle I believe. I really do like the 2018 301 elk forum knife but I do miss the spay blade with a lot more belly. Then a 303 cadet to match would be the ultimate in pocket knife knifedom.

d2 is pretty close to being stainless. sure one could force a patina a bit but nothing in the depth of a carbon steel blade....

True they won’t darken as much. Patina is more than just a stained blade. Any signs of use constitute patina.

It is a nice looking knife but the color is much darker than I would have expected. The burgundy is very subtle and the dark interior doesn’t let much light through to show the color, only in some faint line of the layers.

Some of these did come through really dark, but burgundy is one of those odd colors that can look different depending on the lighting too. I had plum crazy purple Dodge back in the day, I swear it changed color as the day went on, from brilliant purple to almost black at dusk.

This is a fun little knife, I can't wait to really use it! It feels so great to hold. Very nice design.
