Hi Steve,
Just got my Sage back with the ironwood burl scales, and it's gorgeous!
Thanks.
What do you recommend for caring for the wood scales?

Glad to hear it Terry. The ironwood is pretty low maintenance. For a while you can bring the shine back with a soft cotton rag. In a few months when that stops working a light coat of paste wax (I use minwax) will freshen them up.
Haven't done a rock lobster yet but that wouldn't be a problem. Because of the milling I'd stick with g10 or micarta for strength. Send me an email to discuss. Sketchenscales at gmail.com
Hi all, I can't say enough about how great Steve is to work with and the outstanding quality of his work (and I truly mean phenomenal, so "above par as to truly put others to shame"-sort of talented). This material is really interesting and beautiful to look at, especially in the sun. It's made by another highly talented craftsman named Travis Zumwalt. Steve was kind enough to hook me up with the Native scales above after first doing a Southard scale in the same material. I'd describe it as a more organic and chaotic form of the standard Ctek material that Steve has several examples of in this thread. Here's another nice shot of the stuff. Need I say more about how addictive Steve's work can be? . Cheers, Radioactive
Just wondering Steve, do you still have a template for the Emerson Combat Karambit? Also, the stand-offs of the one you did previously; are they the flared style or pillar? I'm strongly considering getting another set of scales from you
