Skin a frog (dead critter content)

Great post Fishshooter! I too have been curious about eating bullfrogs, but I'm not sure its legal to catch them here. Will have to check the fishing regs.
Catfish however are great! What do you find in the stomachs? the last time I ate some Bullheads they were full of nothing but crayfish.

BTW here is a fantastic catfish recipe I tried for the first time yesterday:

Thanks dude. That recipe looks fantastic! I printed it out and put it in my fish recipe book.

What's up hung? These are going to be fried along with the little cats and a pile of bream another fella has caught. There may be some beer drinking involved. ;)

i have about the easiest way to clean a snapper that pretty much takes the fight out of them. i wont post how i do it here since i'm sure someone will whine about it but anyone interested that loves eating turtle can email me.

maybe?? i think we know how us southerners role when we fry up a mess of viddles ;).. i am so jealous haha... going fishing with pops in the AM, hope to bring something hope to filet and fry.

hell i watched someone on tv just put the whole turtle, shell and all on a pile of hot coals.. when the shell gets brittle pop it open and eat.. :D

I'll do that out the next cook-out. I do have a pic of step one. Get his head out so you can whack it off with a machete. This one became a big pot of stew. Yummy stuff.

noticed you had your juice of choice for before, during and after cleaning of the pond monster

Ha! Busted. I see a cold beer, a hammer, a machete and a pair of pliers. Start of a pretty average Saturday afternoon around here. I wonder how the anti-battoning crowd would have liked to watch me beat that Ontario through that turtle with a ballpeen hammer?

looks like a lot of work, try the hot coal/ whole turtle routine and see how that works out.. does your wife eat the turtles and frog legs?? mine would rather starve to death

Frogs legs, not so much. Everything else is game. She can clean fish, crabs, crawfish, etc. Even skinned a deer or two. I don't know what it is about frog legs, most our chicks steer clear of em.

I thought I had already responded to this but it must have been a day when I saw it and then had to head out the door.

Those are some great pics, and a great point about using the parts you don't eat as bait for something else you will.

I really enjoyed the tutorial, thanks very much.

I was wondering if you could post a pic or two of the gig, or if you've posted any pics of them in another thread? I'd like to see it.

Again, thanks for a great thread!

Thanks fellas, I'm glad ya'll found it useful.

That's the one we used on the left hand side of the pic. I'll snap a better one, as it's a two piece rig. This is actually a flounder gig, as a dedicated frog gig has smaller barbs in a square arrangement. I have one like that too, and will get a pic of it.

Thanks for showing us the gig, this is fascinating stuff to me.

Havent had frog legs since last time I was in Oklahoma. I only like them if they are fried ala chicken or catfish style , any other way makes me gag ! :D hehehe

Great thread. :)
