Can anyone explain the appeal of skull beads on knife lanyards? Do you find that they represent a cheesy or child like image?

I don't want them.
But if you're a fan of skulls, then they're great. :)

It's all about looks, so if you don't like the look, don't stick a skull bead on your knife.

I'm sorry, but this thread is antagonistic and qualifies as trolling.

"Childish" is not being mature enough to recognize and respect individual preferences and opinions other than your own.

There's nothing wrong with using skull beads. Or regular beads or spacers or whatever you prefer. It doesn't make anyone childish or cheesy.

Your welcome to your opinion of course but, it will be just that. Your opinion will not make a standard of course.

Do you really think it's childish and cheesy to use a skull bead? I know of quite a few people who would strongly disagree.

The appeal lies in the skull. It's dark and forboding but can be conidered a sign of good fortune as well. It's got primal appeal.

I do respect others preferences, that's why I started this thread. I wanted to see others opinions around this trend. I thought hmm... maybe I'm missing something because the skull has always appeared to represent a child like image to me, same with flames (something you might find on a toy car for example) it has always seemed cheesy to me. I assure you I'm not trying to troll, only to understand. Maybe I could have worded it differently.

I tried lanyards AND skull beads lol. Quickly realized that I detested them both. I do love my laser-etched skulls on my Kershaw Emerson though :)

Read the history of skulls and you'll find in some cultures, the skull honors the dead.

If you dont like skulls maybe you should get a hello kitty lanyard.LOL, ......asking why do men like skulls is like asking why do men like camouflage.

They don't appeal to me, but different strokes for different folks. I'm not going to antagonize those who do like them

If you are referring to me, know that I'm not trying to antagonize those who like them, I'm only trying to see the appeal from their eyes.

I don't have any skull lanyards but they do look cool. Maybe other people think skulls look cool so that's probably why they have skull beads on their lanyard.

the real question should be why do people ask stupid questions?

Haha! A Hello Kitty lanyard would be funny! I guess maybe my thought was way off board. I always thought the skull thing was a knife trend not a guy trend. I guess I have been wrong all these years thinking that skulls were mostly popular among the younger crowd.

The reason I asked the question was because I kept seeing many knife lanyards with skull beads and I wanted to understand the appeal. I thought it was because of more than just the look. Why do you think it's stupid question?
