Slim Stockman

I usually take silver polish and clean it. I wonder what would happen if I left it. Looks like gun blue or a rust barrier.

the main clip blade certainly looks like a utica. i thought that bear & sons were making these for MM.

If it has a B in the part number its a Bear. The site has a U in the part number. My guess is Utica.

thanks for the heads up. would you know the type of steel in these?

edit: never mind... the site said 1095 HC... carry on

Ah yes the stockman. Best 3-blade combo going. I've been known to carry two on some days. Sick huh? Good looking peppers too.

Nice slim stock, and a pleasant task for it, Hal. Great looking buncha peppers!!
I would be remiss if I didn't add a picture of your knife's relative;
Different blades, but otherwise, your knife's uncle:D!

Schrade Walden 899, 3 9/16".

I like the way shrade puts that "hump" in the spey blade.

I like that spey hump too. They have quite a few variations on the spey, depending on the pattern and whether it is in the high or low spot.

Nice "Uncle Red" there Charlie. Beauty of a clip blade too with the long thin swedge along the top spine.

Charlie's 899 takes the blue ribbon at this fair! Here is a Schrade slendereeno sampler. They are all stockmans except for the linerlock. There must have been well over 100 variations on this frame.

we need a drool imoticon here.... or, i need a bibb... those are some sexy stockmans.

what's the one 4th from the top?

Nice show Calvin. I don't believe I've seen a #2 before either. #4 is a Cigar Box Schrade Walden.

Another handful of contestants for the Slendereeno Fair.

All stockmen except the K-77 jack. #2 and #4 are both 896K, #3 another sweet stag from Herman Williams. One more note to Charlie, the OP is an 899 as well. Just could not find anything to punch on those peppers.

Not sure what the parameters are for "slim" stockman, but this MM 5301 (3 7/8" closed) has a pretty slim blade:

Thanks for the note Hal; I should have seen that!
I think it qualifies if it has a Muskrat, Turkish or California Clip, Elliott, which yours does. I suspect it is a discussable subject though, maybe for another thread?

What distinguishes between a California, Muskrat, or Turkish clip? Defining features? What kind of clip is on an Ulster 58OT? Thanks for the help.

I would think the same thing on the blades Charlie. I kind of started the thread with the the serpentine Schrade in mind, and the 861 was kind of their "slim premium stock", and they called the 61OT a "Slim Stockman" on the box. The 89x series is just a shorter version of the same style. Other makers have the same style, and I admire a lot of them. I would think the blade has more of a bearing than the frame.

I think these blades are all similar with a different name, and the blade on a 58OT for sure fits here. I would call it Turkish or California.
